I was confused by what I heard my mother say. I stood rooted at the door, wondering what she meant by that statement. My mom didn’t say anything after that and I noticed she had ended the call. Who was she speaking to? And who was she referring to with that statement?

Dana was just overthinking the entire thing. My mom has always been a good person with a good mindset.

“I thought someone was coming hence I turned around to know who it was. I must have heard your footsteps and thought it was from the other side,” I lied.
Mom nodded and told me to come into her room which I did. Mom’s room screamed of money and exquisite taste. My mother had always been a fashionista and after getting married to Damien which gave her access to his money, her taste expanded
“I have been waiting for you since. I wanted to come to your room since I didn’t see you.”
We both sat on the sofa at the foot of her king–sized bed.
“What did you want to talk about?” Mom touched my hand, her hazel eyes met mine and they were filled with grace and love. This was the reason, I would never believe that she could have ill thoughts against Alpha Damien.
“Wait, is it related to last night? Your father told me you were not happy. I thought he was able to speak to you and calm

That was the excuse he made to my mom yet he came into my room and rammed his huge dick into me. ‘Don’t talk about our mate like that! Dana interjected my thought but I ignored her. She was always on his side.

“Cassie, you can speak to me anytime. If there is anything bothering you, tell me. This is the reason I am your mother. I love you, no one can love you as much as I do.
“Mom, I know how much you love me and I love you too. Moreover, I am fine. I came here for something else,” I sighed, preparing myself for the persuading speech I was going to do.
“What is it then?” She asked her gaze pressed on me keenly.
“It is about school” I replied, and she moved closer. Mom cared about my education a lot,
“Cassic, you can’t leave this pack. Our mate might be in danger. We have to transfer to the pack college so as to keep an eye on him and your mont: Dana came forward.
“Can you not see how sweet my mom is? Does she look like she could harm Damien? She can’t hurt our mate!” I shunned. She was becoming too persistent and it was annoying.
“Moreover, I already made the decision to focus on Jeremy and that can’t happen while I am here. I won’t be transferring to this pack!” I added.
“Cassie, have you finally accepted to transfer to the pack college Mom tapped me bringing me back to our conversation.
I couldn’t answer immediately. Dana’s words were interfering with my answers. Perhaps she was right. I needed answers that mom could only provide but I couldn’t ask her those burning questions as mom would never tell me the truth. Also, she might be disappointed in me for thinking that low of her.
Cassie, did you hear me?” Mom tapped me again.
“Yes.” I returned my gaze to her.
“Have you accepted to transfer to the pack college?”
I sighed and nodded.
“Yes, mom”
Dana jumped in the back of my mind.
‘I knew you wouldn’t be able to leave our mate!”
“Nope, I only did this to protect my mom from doing anything bad to the Alpha. The call might have to do with Damien.”

I blocked Dana, shoving her back. She was kinda right and I did want to admit that.
Mom was happy, she held my hand and started to plan the things she was going to buy me for the new school. She loved to buy things.
“Good thing, your stepfather is rich!”
I went back in my room but the words mom said wouldn’t leave my head. I still wasn’t sure she was talking about Damien. I decided to distract myself with cooking. Getting to the kitchen, saw a granny. I have heard about the head maid but it was my first time seeing her.
“Hi, I walked to her.
“You must be Cassie, I am the head maid.” She introduced. I was right, she was the one mom talked about. She said she knew how to cook very well.

“It is nice meeting you, finally, Can I assist you?” I asked, she nodded and left the lettuce to me. She grabbed the carrots and started to chop them
“You are good,” she commended and I nodded, smiling. Mom paid for cooking classes during summer and now I was glad. she did. Grandma Sophia looked at me impressively.
“How long have you been in this pack?” I asked.
“Actually, I brought Damien up, I think that should give you an estimation.
“Wow! Was he a cute baby? Tell me he wasn’t this grumpy and inean.” I scoffed and she laughed softly.
“To be honest. Damien was a good boy growing up. The pack training and Alpha duties changed him.”
“Why can’t I believe this?” I lifted my head to her and she met my eyes too, chuckling after.
“Believe me, he was a good baby”
“Okay, believed. What about his mom though? I haven’t heard anything about her”
“I am not in the right position to answer that question. I think you should ask your mom.” She glanced at me and smiled. It felt like she was uncomfortable talking about it so I dropped the topic. She continued to chop the carrot, slicing it like an
expert.
“Granny, if you brought Damien up, what about your family?” I wondered.
“I had much time on my hands, Cassie because I didn’t have a family. Aside from my parents who died a long time ago.” She threw the carrot she had chopped into a bowl and then passed me the other bowl for the lettuce.
Instantly, I felt bad for even bringing it up. I paused as my hands met the bowl she had stretched to me. Our gaze met again and I saw a sad smile on her face.
“I am so sorry for asking about it.”
“No, you don’t have to be sorry. It is not your fault. I once thought I would but the decision I made didn’t allow it to happen. When you have someone that loves you Cassie, make sure you don’t lose them. Hold them tightly. You are very pretty and sweet, you deserve someone that loves you very much.”
I felt bad for her because she was speaking from a place of regret And I couldn’t help but think about Jeremy. I decided to cook the meal and take some for Jeremy.
Grandma Sophia was the one always making the meals and I had to beg her to allow me to do it this time. Eventually, she agreed and I cooked.
“This smells really food.” Grandma Sophia passed me a big spoon, an impressive expression masking her face..
After I was done, I decided to take some for Jeremy. I smiled when I dished the meal and placed it in a cute tray. I told Grandma Sophia that Jeremy wouldn’t be joining us in the dining area as we were going to eat together. She nodded while tasting the portion she had dished for herself.
“Wow, this is so good.” Her pupils dilated with interest and I blushed.
“Thank you.” I walked out of the kitchen, thinking about Jeremy I pray he loved the food as much as Grandma Sophia did. Perhaps he was just being nice and sweet.
I hoped this way I would be able to save my relationship with him. Getting to his room, he wasn’t there. Fortunately, I saw a guard who told me he had seen him going to the maid’s quarters I was stunned. Why did Jeremy go there?
