The doctor shook his head. “We tried our best but his health is very poor at the moment. I advise you brace yourselves for the worst.”
“What do you mean by that?” Nathan’s uncle, Mr. Richard Clemon asked.

“His health has been detoriating for the past years. As at now he is in a coma and if he doesn’t wake up in the next seventy two hours…” The doctor didn’t continue but they all understood what he meant.
When Nathan heard the doctors words, he took a few steps back and lean on the corridor wall. His grandfather was the one who brought him up and thought him all he knew now. Although his parents are still alive.
Nathan mother is a rather weak woman who has acute leukemia. As she has being going for
chemotherapy and radiotherapy session, Nathan’s dad spent most of his time with her and whenever she was in a healthy shape, they travel around the world.
Since a possible cure is not available at that moment there is a risk that the lack of healthy blood cells might make her
which may lead to death Vulnerable to life–threatening infections and uncontrolled serious bleeding
So Nathan’s dad passed everything down to him as the only heir of the family making him take the Clemon Group in his hands at her young age. With that his grandfather groomed him to what he was today. And he also took care of his wife.
“He would be in the intensive care unit for now for observation for the next seventy two hours. You can take turns to see him after a while.” With that said the doctor walked away leaving them on the corridor.
Meanwhile in the Adams residence, the burly men had arrived with Hilda. The moment her mother saw her, she raised her hand and struck her hard on her cheek. “You piece of trash! How dare you attack Mr. Rex? Do you know who he is?”
Holding her cheeks Hilda stared at the woman who she had called mom for 19years. “Don’t you know why I attacked him or do you want me to tell you?”
Hilda have never spoken back to Mrs. Adams before so the latter was shocked by her sudden outburst. ” What did you just say?”
“I was asking if you didn’t know why I attacked him. What are you going to do? Slap–me again? Hah..” Hilda furiously spat. She had had enough of this family. Although she didn’t know her biological family, she wouldn’t let them treat her bad anymore.
Mrs. Adams was beyond furious and speechless after Hilda repeated herself. Pointing at her she didn’t know how to refute. “You….”
Mr. Lewis then spoke up. “Hilda, that’s no way to talk to your mother.”
Hilda sneered. “Mother? When as she ever been a mother to me?”
Looking at them who were bickering at each other the Matriarch was impatient as she hit her cane on the ground. “Enough all of you!” With that the place fell silent.

She then continued. “Hilda, Mr. Rex has said that he is willing to let the Adams family off the hook only with you accompany him for a night…”
Color drained from Hilda’s face when she heard the Matriarch’s words. Turning around she noticed the door has been tightly shut as soon after she entered. “Grandmother, what are you talking about? I’m not going to agree to this.”
Although Hilda attacked Rex, it was in self defense as he was about to take advantage of her. How could he request for Hilda to spend a night with him before letting the family off.
The Adams family had all this planned out since the beginning so the sudden fall out at the end was uncalled for. More like everyone was selling her out.
Hilda felt saddened as she thought about the family she had known for so long selling her out like this.
“Hilda, the Adams family future is currently in your hands. How could you refuse?” Mr. Lewis questioned.
“Dad…” Hilda’s eyes were filled with hostility as she stared at him. The words just now had caused her emotions to rise and fall, as though they were restless waves that could not be calmed. She wanted to tell him she is also his daughter. How can he send her to accompany Rex who was known for his promiscuous life style for a night? That would be the end of her.
Carmen who was standing at the side was secretly grinning in her heart but sounded caring as she voiced out. “Dad, Hilda is still young. We shouldn’t do this to her. Since she said she can’t why don’t we try and convince Mr. Rex another way out?”
Hearing the kindness in Carmen’s words, Mr. Lewis thought. Look how soft hearted my daughter is. She still cares for Hilda although she nearly ruined her engagement ceremony. “Carmen, it’s not that we didn’t sound him out in another way but he said Hilda should accompany him for a night and nothing else could be done or else the Adams family would face his wrath.”
The Matriarch looked at Hilda and said. “It has already been decided. You would be keeping Mr. Rex company tonight.” With that she turned around and walked towards her room.
“I’m not going to..” With that Hilda slumped into the sofa beside her.
The members of the Adams family sneered at her before walking off one after another leaving Mr. Lewis, Mrs. Amanda, Carmen and Daniel.
“Hilda, we are doing this for your own good. We are your family, we won’t hurt you.” Mrs. Adams said hypocritically before walking away with Carmen with Daniel following suit.
Although Daniel was burning with fury inside, there was nothing he could do. The cross family wasn’t a family you could mess with. He has been dating Hilda for two years and yet he didn’t even get to cuddle with her and Rex wants her to accompany him for a night. Fuming mad, he walked away with his thoughts. As he wouldn’t dare to offend the young master of the Cross family.
Mr. Lewis looked at Hilda. “My dear daughter, I’m really sorry but you have to do this.”
Hilda stared back at him and said. “Daughter? Hah, you don’t have to pretend with me. I know I’m not your biological daughter.”

Shocked, Mr. Lewis calmed himself down. “What nonsense are you sprouting? What do you mean by you are not my daughter?“.
“You don’t have to act in front of me. I overheard you talking about it with mom the other day in the study.”
Sighing Mr. Lewis replied. “Since you already know, there is no need for me to hide it. Yes you are not my biological daughter. But I have always treated you like my biological daughter.”
Tears welled up in Hilda’s eyes when she heard his words. He really isn’t my biological father after all. So who am I? Whose daughter am I? Why would my family abandon me?
With this thought in her mind, Hilda couldn’t suppress her tears as they fell down her cheeks. Mr. Lewis tried to comfort her but she ignored him and wiped the tears. “So where is my family? Who are my parents?”
Mr. Lewis shook his head. “After you accompany Mr. Rex for the night, I will tell you about your family.” With that said he got up and prepared to leave.
Before leaving he turned and looked at Hilda. “Mr. Rex is waiting for you in your room. You will be spending the night together tonight.” With that, he walked away.
