Chapter 24
Tears streamed down her face as she watched the man she had called dad for the past 19 years turn to be a stranger walk away.
Meanwhile inside Hilda’s room, Rex sat on her bed as he looked around the small bedroom. The hue of the bedroom was sky blue. There was a round bed, a dressing table, closet, and desk all which had a little color of blue in it.
He sat on the bed patiently as he waited for Hilda. Since the Adams family has already promise to make Hilda accompany him for the night, he knew there was no need for him to rush. Sitting on the bed, he began fiddling with his cufflinks.
Tears were still streaming down Hilda’s face as she sat on the large hall looking at nothing really in particular. The mere thought of being sent to Rex’s bed was suffocating her. But thinking about the fact that she would get to know who her biological family were, she became conflicted.
Although the temptation of getting to know her biological family was strong, there was also unwillingness for her to accompany Rex who was known for his promiscuous life for a night. Thinking about this, disdain rose deep within her heart for the Adams family.
Since she came back from her trip, she had been exposed to a completely different way of life. Only now this she realized just how unbearable and unsightly her family was. But what could she do? She didn’t choose to be abandoned by her biological family.
All of a sudden, she heard footsteps of someone walking up to her. She raised her head only to see a tall figure with a bandage over his head walking up to her. She hurriedly wiped her tears. “What do you want?”
Rex walked over to where she was seated. His deep eyes stared at her before he said in a low voice. “I have been waiting for a while now but you aren’t coming. I hate to be kept waiting so I came to get you myself”
“You came to get who? I am not going to accompany you for the night. Dream on!” Hilda hurriedly refused.
With a lecherous gaze, Mr. Rex stared at Hilda. “Tsk, tsk, tsk. Don’t tell me that you have forgotten so soon about how you attacked me.”
“You deserved it! You tried to take advantage of me.” Hilda rebuked.
“Why would I, Rex Cross, have to take advantage of someone?” Rex raised an eyebrow before he continued. “Your parents gave you to me on their own free will. I didn’t force them.”
Yes, he has a point. I was sent to his bed and I got lucky at that time but what about tonight? Nathan saved me the other night but what about tonight? Rex then added. “I can get any girl I want.”
Thinking about this, Hilda stood up from the sofa and locked her arms around his neck. “Rex…” She called his name coquettishly. Before Rex could say anything she continued. “You know I’m a stubborn girl, but the truth is I like you. I just didn’t want my sister to know. As you know she took my boyfriend away from me so I didn’t want the same to happen with you.”

Nathan then held her waist and walked out of the Adams family house.
Carmen who had been hiding just now in a corner was filled with rage as anger was visible in her eyes. Even with the dim light Hilda could clearly see it. It was just what she had wanted to happen the moment she saw Carmen hiding in the corner.

Outside the Adams residence, it was as though the whole world was quiet. Nothing but insect chipping could be heard. Hilda was contemplating on how to get rid of Rex as they were now outside the Adams residence.
She didn’t say a word as Rex had his hand on her waist The man was too dazed by the fact that he was going to spend the night with her that he didn’t pay any attention to her facial expression. After getting in his car he started the ignition and headed for the bar.
Meanwhile Nathan who was leaning on the way of the hospital corridor suddenly heard his phone buzzing. Taking it out he noticed it was Hilda. “Pumplen…” His voice was hoarse.
Hilda who was in the car acted like she was just fidgeting with her phone when in real fact she had called Nathan. “Mr. Rex, so which bar are we going?”
Smiling, Rex had one hand on the steering wheel while the other roamed Hilda’s body. “We are going to the biggest bar in the city.”
“Kiki Bees I guess.” Hilda held his hand as she replied with a smile on her face but within her she was fuming with rage as she found him disgusting.
Nathan who answered the call but didn’t hear Hilda’s voice at first was shaken but after listening to the conversation that was going on between them he frown. The young master of the Cross family? What’s has he got to do with Hilda?
After contemplating with himself for a while, he left the hospital. As it was late, there were not much -cars on the street so Nathan sped off towards the club
At this time Hilda was secretly praying that Nathan would come and save her but she knew better that he might be busy attending to something as the call he answered earlier was an emergency.

After some time, they arrived at the club. Hilda looked around the street if she could catch a glimpse of Nathan’s car but no she didn’t. At that, disappointment washed over her. What was I thinking? That he was going to stop everything he was doing and come and save me just because I called him?
