Hilda felt uneasy as Nathan still haven’t asked about the incident that happened at the mall. When she came. downstairs after her shower Nathan was already busy with work in his study. 

She went ahead and knocked on the door. 

“Come in.” Came a deep and sexy voice. 

She hesitated before walking in. “You are still working?” She scratched her head and asked. 

“Yes. But let’s go.” With that Nathan packed his document and got ready to head out but Hilda stood in front of him and blocked his path. “Erm.. about the news from earlier. It wasn’t as it was reported…” 

Nathan didn’t wait for her to finish before interrupting her. “I know.” 

Hilda stared at him. What does he mean by he knows? What does he know? She had no idea that Nathan had a bodyguard following her after the chase the last time so she was surprise. “What do you know?” 

“I have a bodyguard following you as I didn’t want anyone harming you.” Nathan calmly replied. 

Hilda took it the wrong way. She was angry after hearing what Nathan said. How could he have someone follow her and watch her every move? “That’s invasion of privacy? How dare you ask someone to follow me around? I told you that I won’t cheat on you so why would you..” 

Nathan was puzzled. “I didn’t mean it that way.” She has totally misunderstood me he thought. 

“What do you mean by that? The fact that we are married doesn’t give you the right to pry into my privacy.” With that Hilda turned around to walk out of the study but Nathan immediately pulled her back into his arms. 

“I didn’t mean that. I just didn’t want anyone harming you when I am not around that’s all. You know I’m a business man and I got enemies. I wouldn’t want other’s harming you in ways of getting to me.” Nathan said softly into her ears. 

Hilda froze. Nathan was hugging her. She could feel his heart beating in his chest. His warm breathe sent her into a great shock. She knew Nathan was trying his best for their marriage to work but doesn’t he think it is a bit too fast? 

As Nathan was too close, she felt his breathe on her ears making her rosy cheeks blush red and her heart also started beating really faster. The worse part was that, she had lost the nerve to push him away. 

“Finally let me tell you this…” With that said, he pressed his lips on hers sending her into a blissful trance. 

Fortunately for Hilda, the kiss didn’t last long. Nathan pulled her back and whispered. “I trust you. So Pumpkin, if you would allow me, I’d want to protect you in my own way I might not be there for you all the time so…”

As soon as he finished speaking, he lowered his head and their foreheads touched again. When their lips w inches apart, Hilda shook her head in shame and hurriedly took a few steps back. She then stuttered. “L. 1…” 

Out of the blue, Nathan pulled her back into his arms again “Pumpkin, for now, I think this is the best option to protect you. He won’t be standing very close to you but would maintain some distance. Don’t let your mind wander about me not trusting you. I trust you.” 

By then, Hilda had already been bewitched. She looked up at his gorgeous face and nodded her consent. 

His scent was intoxication as she found herself lost in it. The smell of his presence gave her a sense of security and his lip tasted like… heaven! 

Satisfied by the spellbound look in her eyes, Nathan smiled

‘No. No. This can’t be right.‘ Hilda suddenly snapped out of her daze and shook her head to clear her mind. 

Nathan run his fingers gently through her smooth hair. “Let’s make this work between us. I think we are a perfect match made in heaven. I’m willing to fulfill my duties as a Husband and make you the happiest woman in the whole world.” 

Hilda was at a loss for words. Seriously? He is so crafty and smooth tongued. He is even sweet talking me. Who would believe this is the cold and aloof CEO Nathan Clemont Hilda mused,

“Erm.. em I think..” He did have a point. I am his wife so of course he can kiss me. But I think this in a little too fast. Although he is trying his best to make it work, we should let it flow slowly. 

Hilda didn’t know how to voice out her concerns so she took a few steps back and bumped into Nathan’s desk. 

Nathan also took a few steps forward. He abruptly pushed her on the desk behind her and leaned forward. 

They found their bodies in an awkward yet erotic posture. Hilda could hardly move. She wriggled and tried to get up from the desk but Nathan didn’t budge. 

“You think?” Nathan raised an eye brow. 

Hilda then shook her head. 

“Okay, I’m famished now. Let’s get going.” Nathan then pinched Hilda waist softly. 

“Ouch.” Hilda uttered a yelp and blushed in embarrassment “Did we have to talk like this?” No one had ever cornered her in a position like this. Her face was burning hotter. 

Nathan smiled and released her and they walked out of the study. 

Nathan drove to a high end restaurant with Hilda keeping him company as he ate. After coming out of the restaurant they didn’t walk towards their car as Nathan suggested they take a walk. 

They walked in a lane hand in hand both keeping their mouth shut as though not to disturb the eerily silent atmosphere around them. 

She was thinking, it is so nice being around him. How I would love if it could last longer. Then she caught a glimpse of a cinema not far away, she thought, it would be nice if we could catch a movie too. 

Nathan noticed her eyes sparkle with delight when she saw the cinema and decided to take some time to watch a movie. After all they are a couple so they could do what couples do. 

For obvious reasons, she then realized that they were heading towards the cinema. 

“Nathan.” She called. 

“Hmm” Nathan responded and turned to look at her. 

“Are we headed towards the cinema?”

“Yeah. Or? What do you think about catching a movie? I have some time now.” 

“Sure.” Hilda smiled. 

Nathan released his hand, took off his suit jacket and draped it over her casual white jacket. The gesture gave her a lot of confidence standing beside him. 

While she seemed to fidget, he picked her up and carried her in his arms and then walked on. 

Never had a man treated her this way. He treated her like she was his most precious thing in his life.

“Nathan, put me down I can walk.” Hilda tried wriggling out of his arms as she 

“Stop wriggling yourself out of my arms or I’m going to kiss you.” Nathan growled and thought, why does she always reject my kind gestures?
