“Grandpa, there is nothing between Gloria and I” He replied calmly although he was burning with fury at the fact that every one wanted him to get married to Gloria.
“You know that you are my favorite grandson and I won’t do anything to harm you. Gloria is the best match for you. As you know I already promised her grandfather that you guys would be married before all those things happened.” The Patriarch sighed as he said all these.
He then continued. “As you already know, she is a good girl and she also hails from a family with equal standing as ours. Marrying her, you would be able to take the Clemons Group to another level with no one being a threat.”
“Grandpa, I have heard all what you said, but Gloria and I ain’t meant to be. What happened that year is enough for you to know that we ain’t meant to be. And if it is the Clemons Group you are worried about, then feel free and relax. Everything is under my control.” Nathan replied in a monotone.

Nathan interrupted him. “Grandpa, I still have something to do at the office so I would be leaving now but would be sure to pass by later.”
“Where do you think you are going? I founded the company all by myself so I know everything that goes on there. What’s so important than your marriage? You know you are not young anymore or you already have someone you like?” The Patriarch had his eyes on Nathan all this while when he spoke.
When he asked whether Nathan had someone he liked a light glint of panic flashed across his eyes but it went as soon as it came and his cold expression was back on. The Patriarch noticed the change of his expression so he asked him again. “You already have someone you like?”
“No
grandpa.” Nathan lied. He knew for sure that his grandpa would research into Hilda’s background and tell him they ain’t meant to be. After all their family’s were miles apart when it came to power and status.
“Stop being stubborn then. If there is no one then you need to get engaged to Gloria as soon as possible. You would need her power to get your uncle from being a threat”
Knowing very well what his grandpa was thinking about, Nathan sighed and said. “okay. I would think about it. Don’t worry”
“You will think about what? I have already told you all this and you said you would think about it? What is there to think about again?” The grandpa was getting furious.
As Nathan knew it would be bad for his health if he got furibus he gave in. “Okay. But I won’t marry her yet. I have a lot of things on me now.” Nathan sighed as he replied. Although he accepted, he was just buying himself some time to make him deal with Gloria in his own way so that she would not even think about being with him.
“Okay. You can go now I need to take a nap.” The Patriarch then asked him out of his ward.
With that Nathan got up and left his ward.
“What did your grandpa say to you?” Mr. Richard was the first to ask when he saw Nathan coming out of the ward.
“Nothing really. Just work. Why are you asking?” Nathan raised an eyebrow and stared at him.
“Oh nothing. Since he isn’t that well I thought he told you something else” He shook his head but Nathan knew what he was hinting at.

“Okay son. We would be sure to leave and come later.” Mrs. Clemon replied. With that Nathan turned and walked away without saying anything as a good bye to Gloria.
Gloria turned to look at his back, her face filled with anger. How dare he leave without saying goodbye. Hmph. Wait till I become your wife she thought.
She then turned her head and looked at Mrs. Clemon pitifully. Mrs. Clemon sighed and walked up to her. “Dear, don’t worry. Nathan haven’t been himself this pass few weeks as he has a lot to deal with at work before his grandpa’s sickness. I am sure he would come back to his senses soon.” She tried to comfort Gloria.
Gloria nodded her head and held onto her hand. “Okay aunt. She also knew that Mrs. Clemons was just comforting her but it didn’t matter to her because she knew Mrs. Clemons would prefer her as her daughter in law.
Meanwhile in Nathan’s residence, after the wild session last night, Hilda was now waking up. She was exhausted. She felt sore all over her body when she tried getting out of bed. As such she recalled the wild session she had with Nathan the night before and then she closed her eyes and covered her face with her hands. “Arghh what did I just do?“!
She was blushing red as she thought about it. But after much thinking she came to the conclusion that Nathan was her husband so it was bound to happen. She looked around but there was no sign of Nathan then she checked the time and noticed that it was already late.
She then got out of bed and went to freshen up.. By the time she was done and came downstairs her stomach was grumbling. She was famished as it was pass lunch time.
She hurried into the kitchen to see if she could get something to eat but to her surprise the was nothing. No vegetable or foodstuffs for her to make anything out of it.
She cursed at Nathan. “After all the wild session last night, he left without leaving any food for me.”
As she was busy cursing Nathan and thinking about going out to have a meal, there was a knock on the door.
She froze. Nathan was at work at this time so who could possibly be at the door. She was at a loss for what to do. As the knocking went on, her gaze moved between going to hide in the bedroom or opening the door.
Since she couldn’t possible let others know she was leaving with Nathan, she hurriedly but silently walked to the bedroom to get her phone.
Once she had her phone, she decided to called Nathan.
In the conference room of the Clemon Group, Nathan was in the middle of a meeting with the other executives when a phone was heard ringing.
The executives at the meeting all froze. They all thought who had dared to leave his or her phone on when they were in a meeting.
It was against the rules for one to leave their phone on as Nathan hated to be interrupted when he was in the middle of something.
They all thought. The person who had her phone on was done for as Nathan’s gaze had already darkened. But to their surprise, Nathan took out his phone from his pocket calmly before swiping to answer.
As soon as he answered, he heard Hilda’s panicked voice coming from the other side of the line. “Nathan, are you expecting someone at home today?”

Hilda then told him about someone knocking on the door. “There is someone knocking on the door and as you know, it would be inconvenient for us if someone gets to know I am living with you so…”
Nathan’s lips rose in a thin line as he listened to Hilda. “You don’t have to worry about that. Just go ahead and open the door. Don’t keep the person waiting.”
Theves in the conference room at the time in the conference room all had their mouth wide opened when they saw the smile on Nathan’s face.
They all had the same thought as who could be so important to their boss to make him smile after answering their call.
After Nathan was done with the call, he put up his cold expression back on and in a cold voice he said. “Are you going to continue with the report or not?”
“Yes, yes,…” The executive giving the report answered timidly before continuing with the report.
