Nathan frowned as he though about who his grandpa would be sending to accompany him. He had already told Hilda she would be tagging along side him so the person his grandpa his going to send now?
Thinking about it, he didn’t know how to break the news to Hilda. He saw a trace of excited flashed passed her eyes when she got to know that it was Christopher’s birthday party she was about to attend. The last time at the cinema, she had said that she was a fan of Christopher so she would be happy to meet him and here…
He went back to join her in the hall and held her in his embrace.
The next day, after Hilda have freshened up and taken her break fast, she was about to go out as Naima had asked her to join her for shopping the night before and she had agreed.
Before she could walk out of the door Nathan stopped her. “The stylists would be here soon. Where are you off to?”
“This early?” She was surprised as the party wouldn’t start till later in the evening so why are they coming this early? To her, she thought the stylists would come later in the afternoon that was why she accepted Naima’s invitation to go shopping.
“Yeah.” He said as he walked back into the living room.
Seeing that it would be impossible for her to accompany Naima, she gave up and went back into the bedroom. She then took out her phone and gave her a call. “Babes, I don’t think I would be able to accompany you today. How about we do a rain check.”
Naima was aggrieved as she spoke on the phone. “The last time we planned to go shopping that b*tch spoilt it and we had to postpone it. What about today? Babe, you are not working or are you? And your husband would be at work at this time so what’s keeping you busy? You just don’t want to spend a few thousands on me.”
Hilda laughed as she listened to Naima speak in an aggrieved tone. “I have a party to attend with my husband or I should let someone else accompany him? Ermm..” Hilda paused like she was thinking and then continued. “I think that would do after all there are so many pretty girls out there who would want to accomp…”
Hilda didn’t get to finish her sentence when Naima’s angry foar came from the other end of the phone. “What the h*ll? You want someone else to accompany Mr. Clemon? Babe this is your husband!”
“Yes he is my husband and you are my best friend. You my best friend is aggrieved so I need to make sure you are okay.” Hilda also said in a sad tone.
Naima immediately denied. “No, no don’t worry. We can go shopping another day but be sure to have fun.” She giggled after her last sentence.
Hilda laughed and said. “Sure. I would be sure to have fun. After which she hanged up.
Soon, the stylists arrived at Nathan’s residence. They came along with a collection of dresses, bags and heels to match the dresses, a cosmetic case and others.
Since it was a birthday party that was suppose to happen in the evening, Nathan chose an evening dress for Hilda by himself.
He chose two dresses, there was one cream and the other blue and gave them to Hilda. “Try these on.” Hilda then went upstairs with both dresses in her arms.
Ten minutes later, she came down and stood on the stair case and looked at Nathan. Nathan’s eyes lit up at the sight of her. The cream dress was an off shoulder dress. It acentuated her tall and willowy figure which made her

She had already tried the blue dress on but the cream looked soo much better. With a bright smile on, down the stairs and stood in front of Nathan. Her face blushed at Nathan’s intense gaze. “How do I look?” She asked with a hopeful expression.
“You look stunning.” Nathan replied and turned around to face the stylists. “You may leave the rest of the clothes here.”
“Yes Mr. Nathan.” The stylist replied.
‘Are all these dresses mine? Hilda thought in awe. She then turned and tugged on Nathan’s shirt. “I don’t think I need so many clothes at the moment.”
It was already winter and she didn’t think she would have a chance to wear the dresses after the winter as she would be busy with work at that time.
“There is no harm in having them hanged in your walk in closet.” Nathan replied.
Hilda was speechless…
It was indeed a sight to see Hilda in the cream dress. It looks like she was embellished with elegance. Her appearance was a huge contrast to her normal attire and office attire.
Nathan then selected a pair of heel and bag and accessories to match with her dress. The rest that was left to do was Hilda’s make up. He looked at Hilda’s make up free face and turned to the stylist. “A light make up.”
“Yes Mr. Nathan.” The make up artist replied.
The make up artist then proceeded with her work and powdered Hilda’s face with light make up. Once it was done, Hilda got off the chair and walked towards Nathan. She gave him a smile and asked. “Do I look good?”
Nathan who was lost in his own thought after receiving a message from the Patriarch stared absent–mindedly at Hilda with blank eyes and nodded without saying anything
Hilda pouted disappointed by his lack of enthusiasm. She thought Nathan would be stunned by he beauty but he remained unaffected.
Nathan then went to get himself ready. When he came out, Hilda had her mouth wide opened. He was dressed smartly in a navy blue suit. He looked quite dapper in his navy–blue suit as he walked towards Hilda.
He held her hand and snapped her out of her daze when he asked. “How do I look?”
Hilda lowered her head to hide her embarrassment of being caught staring. “You look dreamy.” Hilda said mischievously. She thought he is unbelievably gorgeous, so much so that he seems to take my breath away.
He held her hand and walked towards his Maybach. The bodyguards then drove them towards the harbor. In the car, Nathan looked at Hilda before sighing. “My grandfather also sent someone to accompany me as he knew I am still single.”
Hilda’s heart sank after she heard what Nathan said. ‘Of course if she hadn’t asked Nathan to keep their marriage a secret, all this wouldn’t have happened. But she knew for a fact that the Clemon’s family would never accept someone who was a nobody to be the wife of Nathan. Who was Nathan? He was the heir of the Clemons family.”
Thinking about this, she felt sour. The Clemon family might have already found him a wife.
When Nathan noticed her sour mood, he mood closer to her and drew her into his arms. “Don’t worry. No one can be my wife, only you.”

Nathan’s expression turned grim at Hilda’s question. But then he answered. “My ex- fiancée.”
“Ex–fiancée?” Hilda was confused,
“Yes, we were about to get married back then but then I pulled out at the last minute.” Nathan’s expression darkened when he thought about everything that happened but he didn’t know how to explain it to Hilda.
“What happened?” Hilda asked sourly after learning that they were a thing before.
At the same time, the car had already reached the harbor. So Nathan evaded Hilda’s question. “We are here.”
Nathan got off followed by Hilda. When she step out of the car, she was met with the sight was a lady in a light green ball gown and a pair of glass heels. Holding her hemlines in her arms, the lady walked happily to Nathan.
