Smiling Nathan said. “You are getting discharged.
“Oh okay. Thank you.”
“My pleasure.” Nathan replied looking at Hilda with a smile. Hilda frowned looking at the smile which seems to come with an irresistible charm. For some reasons, she doesn’t like him behaving like this
around her.
Looking at her who was packing up to leave he stated. I would be waiting for you downstairs.”
She hurriedly rejected him saying. “I don’t want to trouble you Mr. Nathan so I will hail a ride back myself.”
“You seem to dislike me Miss Adams. Is it that you got a thing for me?” Nathan arched his eyebrow.
Feeling annoyed with his way of thinking. “Don’t take this the wrong way Mr. Nathan. I just
think we
should maintain some distance since we are not related. You seem to be very busy, so I won’t be bothering you. Good day.”
Hilda was about to move out of the ward when Nathan grabbed her hand.
Nathan squinted, feeling delighted when he saw her blush from anger. “I’m not busy. I would send your back. Besides, abandoning a lady at the side of the road should not be something a gentleman would be doing.”
Nathan seemed to be agreeable but in actuality, he was being bossy. He tightened his grip on her hand not willing to let her go.
Hilda looked at the grip on her hand and her face turned unnaturally scarlet. Biting her lip, she stopped struggling.
When Nathan noticed she wasn’t struggling anymore, he let her go. “Let’s get going Miss Adams.” Hilda looked at him angrily but still complied.
Exiting the building, Nathan opened the backseat of his car and said, “Miss Adams please.” Even though Hilda got into the car, she didn’t want to have any contact with Nathan. Smiling Nathan added. “Seat belt please.”
After telling the driver the address, she didn’t speak anymore and stared out of the window except for when the driver made some wrong turns.
Nathan wasn’t an idiot as he notice her distaste for him. When they got to her apartment complex he glanced at her. “The deal still stands. Anytime or day you feel like pulling the trigger you can call me.”
Hilda pursed her lips. “You seemed to be a successful man Mr. Nathan, and you are an eligible bachelor. If words got out, I think all the ladies in Taadi City would line up to be your partner. You do not have to be wasting your time on me.”
“That’s what you think, not me. Fate blows in random directions Miss Hilda. If you can’t run away from it, why don’t you just face it? Isn’t that what they say? Nathan looked at her as there seemed to be a different layer of meaning to his question.

Biting her lips, Hilda tried to get off. Tapping his fingers on the door handle, Nathan unlocked the doors, “Now that we are here, I shouldn’t bother you anymore Miss Adams.”
He knew what he should do at all times. So he was being patient with his prey. He knows when to strike and when to retreat.
Hilda got down. “Thank you for sending me home Mr. Nathan. But sorry for I won’t be accepting the
deal.”
He smiled. “I don’t believe in absolutism. It’s getting late Miss Adams.”
Hilda closed the door and watched the Maybach get further and further away before turning to head inside. The moment she turned around, she froze.
She looked at the man standing not very far away from her. He was in a suit and looked very explicit, she felt her heart squeeze as her face turned pale.
The façade she had been putting up the whole time from the hospital in the car came crumbling down at the very moment. She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her flesh, but she couldn’t fee
the pain as it was incomparable to what she was feeling deep within her heart. All her attention was on him as she bit her lips.
Daniel saw her a while back from when she got down from the Maybach. He hadn’t taken his eyes off her. All this while he had thought about how awkward it was going to be between them after they broke
up
and how she was going to hate him for that.
However he never expected her to get over him and hook up with another man in such a short period of time. For some inexplicable reason, he felt annoyed and angered. He stared at her looking displeased.” Who was the man who dropped you off just now?”
Hilda felt amused. How dare he have the guts to interrogate me after he cheated on me with my sister?” Who he is has got nothing to do with you don’t you know that?”
“How could it have nothing to do with me?” Daniel was furious.
Hilda thought this man was laughable even unbelievable.
“Do you know what you are doing? Yes I know Carmen and I have hurt you but you can only accept it. You are young and do not have to hook up with the first man you see it is degrading! I am now your brother–in–law. I won’t hurt you Hilda…” He paused when he noticed the odd way he called himself brother–in–law.
“Degrading? Do you know what you are talking about? Hilda felt it was funny. “Well thanks for your concern.” She sneered. “But please don’t show up ever again in front of me. Alright I get it. You love Carmen a lot. Gross. What do you want from me then? See, the problem is I took a step back and you didn’t. All you do is keep taking a step forward.” Hilda couldn’t understand what he was thinking.
“Hilda!” Daniel looked at her incredulously. He couldn’t believe that this was the woman who agreed to everything he said and thought about him all the time turning out this way. “How could you speak to me this way? You disappoint me.”
