Running out, she run as far as she can with her tears still streaming down her face. Arriving at a desolated corner, she sat on the floor with her head in between her knees as she cried.
Nathan was driving by him self after a hard day’s work when he spotted a tiny little figure sitting on the ground with head buried in her knees. Taking a look, he looked away indifferently as he didn’t care. Buh a moment later he felt the person looked familiar.
Stepping on the brakes, he stopped the car at the opposite side of the street. Getting out he walked to the other side. Looking at her with head buried between her knees, He felt an inexplicable sadness within him. “Miss Hilda, are you okay?”
Raising her head to look at him who was staring at her with a caring gaze, Hilda couldn’t help but cry again. Getting up, she hugged him and cried desperately.
“Looking at her who was hugging him and crying as if she lost everything, he felt his heart tighten. Patting her back, he said to her. “Don’t worry. It’s okay. I’m here for you.” After consoling her for sometime she stopped crying.
Picking her into his arms he carried her to his car. Helping her into the passenger seat he fastened her seat belt before also getting in.
Getting in the driver’s seat, he tapped his fingers on his knee as he stared at her. “What happened?”
Without replying she asked. “Does the deal still count?”
Amused he feigned ignorance. “Which deal are you talking about?”
“The deal you said the other time.” Hilda mused
Acting confused he asked again. “Miss Hilda, what deal are you talking about? Seems like I have forgotten so if you would enlighten me.”
Looking at him who was feigning ignorance, she decided to go all in and said. “The deal about erm… me being your woman. You asking me to marry you. Does it still stand?”
“Of course it still stands. As I said, you are the only woman who I don’t feel repulsed when I’m around
you.”
Π
Her face flashed scarlet red immediately. “What if I don’t have an origin? Will you still want to marry me?”
Hearing her question there was a slight change in his expression as his gaze darkened but it soon returned to normal. “Miss Adams, what do you mean by that? I meant it when I asked you to be my woman and nothing is going to make me change my mind.
Hilda’s heart began to race uncontrollable, making her feel at a loss at what to do.
Looking at her who didn’t say anything further, Nathan decided to drop it and started the ignition before driving off to his residence.
On the way, silence engulfed the car as no one spoke. Nathan understood that she might be going through a tough time so he didn’t push her further. Arriving, Hilda was surprised. “Where are we?”

Smiling he replied. “Welcome to my humble abode.”
“Why are we here?” Hilda asked
Frowning he replied. “The last time I dropped you off see what happened. I don’t want my woman being unhappy so you gonna rest here for the time being. Al look how weak you are from all the crying.”
Hilda wanted to refute but he did have a point. She just got to know she is not her parents biological daughter and also her boyfriend is with her sister so tagging along here won’t be a bad idea after all Nathan seemed to be a nice person.
Since she was quiet Nathan carried her into the house into his bedroom after which he excited and called Samuel. “Come to my residence.”
After sometime Samuel came over. Looking at Nathan who was sitting in the living room with a frown he asked. “What’s wrong?”
Without replying he got up and headed for his bedroom. Looking behind him he shouted. “Hurry up and get up here.”
Raising an eyebrow he looked at Nathan who was already up the steps before thinking. “It is rare for Nathan to speak with such attitude.”
In the bedroom, Hilda was already asleep since she was weak.
Samuel walked over and checked up on her who was lying in Nathan’s bed after all Nathan never allows a woman into his residence. “Hah, it’s your missus again. Seems like she has a fever. So what are we to do?” he asked while stroking his chin.
“You are the doctor and you are asking me what we should do. Why else did I ask you here? Nathan asked sternly.
“Hey… It is nothing serious. I will have to check her temperature and prescribe some medications.” After which he left for the living room.
After some time Nathan came down. Looking at him Samuel asked. “Bro, is your missus better now?”
left?”
Narrowing his eyes Nathan asked. “You are here still? Why haven’t you
“Samuel was speechless.
Was he just getting cast aside like this? He rushed here after the call from Nathan and he is being treated like this now. “Come on bro, You’re being so unkind now!”
“Unkind?” Nathan scoffed.
“Hey, hey, I just lent you a hand. Do you have to be like this?” He wasn’t going to let Nathan chase him. away this easily. “But come to think of it, ain’t you worried that your missus fever might get serious later? Since I am the doctor why not let me stay?”
“There is no need!” Nathan frowned and headed back upstairs.

Samuel raised his eye brows. Seeing Nathan walk away he dared not say anything. Picking up his car keys in defeat he left.
Nathan returned upstairs and let out a sigh of relief after noticing Hilda laying peacefully on the bed. He stood by the bedside and watched her with an unusual hint of warmth in his dark eyes without him noticing then he reached out to cover her with a blanket.
Walking out, he walked to the balcony with a cigarette in his hand. He lit it but didn’t take a puff.
At the balcony, he stood there for a long while enjoying the breeze. He only left for the study after receiving a message from his assistant.
“The details of Miss Hilda and her family.” Stanley had been with Nathan for a while so he really knew the man’s habit. Since he wanted her details, He had to get it done real fast.
