Chapter 120 Mom, Don’t Get Involved in This

“Very well, you’ve tricked me again.” David waved his hand. “Get her to the operating room, now!”
If they were any slower, Harper would be here! They couldn’t let her see this scene; otherwise, Caroline would regain her courage and cause trouble again.
Caroline’s smile deepened. “I won this bet, David.”
As her words fell, she used every bit of strength left in her body to shout, “Mom, I’m here… here!”
Her voice echoed down the long hallway. Soon, Harper’s footsteps grew louder, and her figure appeared in sight.
Caroline watched as that figure moved toward her. Mom is here, I am saved.
As soon as Caroline had been pushed into the examination room, she had sensed that things weren’t going well. She had prepared an escape route in advance.
After admitting to the doctors and nurses that she was pregnant, she had asked for a phone.
Then, she sent a message to Harper. Caroline wasn’t sure if Harper would see it, or if she would come, but she had to take the chance. At least, sending the message gave her some hope.
“Caroline, what… what’s wrong?” Harper rushed over, seeing her covered in cold sweat, looking extremely worried. “Are you sick? What’s going on?”
Harper’s face was kind, someone Caroline had known for many years. At Caroline’s moment of desperation, Harper’s genuine care and punctual arrival came at the perfect moment.
Harper had a motherly love that Caroline had never experienced.
Caroline clung to her like a lifeline, reaching out to grab Harper’s hand, but she forgot that all her fingers were broken.
“Gosh, your hand…” Harper’s eyes were full of concern. “What happened? It looks painful! Quick, quick, get a doctor here to fix those bones!”
She wanted to hold Caroline’s hand but feared hurting her, so she paused, her hand hovering in the air, and then withdrew.
“Mom…” Caroline opened her mouth to speak, but as soon as she did, tears streamed down her face, and she was unable to say anything.
She felt guilty toward Harper because the child wasn’t from the Ellison family.
But she had no choice. She had to use Harper’s kindness to ensure the child’s survival first, and then worry about the rest later.
“I’m here, don’t be afraid,” Harper said, her voice comforting as she looked at the bodyguards. “What are you standing there for? She’s in this condition, and we’re at the hospital. Why haven’t you called the doctor yet? What are you doing?”
The bodyguards exchanged glances. Should we send Mrs. Ellison to the obstetrics and gynecology operating room, or to the orthopedics department?

“She’s in this condition, and you’re standing there acting like you don’t care?” Harper snapped at him. “You should be treating your wife with love and care. You’ll regret it later if you don’t!”
“Do you know what she’s done?”
One by one, each thing Caroline had done was enough for David to tear her apart.
Harper answered, “Caroline is a good girl, kind–hearted. What harm could she have done? I know that couples fight, it’s inevitable, but David you need to calm down. A man should be humble in front of his wife -it’s not shameful. Enough of this. Let’s deal with her injuries first. Her fingers are broken, how much pain must that be? Caroline, you don’t need to be so tough. If it hurts, just say so. How did this happen?”
