Chapter 129 A Problem with ‘Caroz‘ Products

Look at the team he had under him. What kind of ridiculous marketing plans are they producing? Not a single one is acceptable!
“Knock, knock.”
The sound of a knock on the door broke his thoughts.
“Come in!”
David leaned back in his chair, picking up the marketing department’s proposal, ready to unleash his frustration. But when he saw Boris walk in, he raised an eyebrow.
“What are you doing here?”
“The marketing department is under my jurisdiction. If you called for them, you called for me.” Boris shrugged. “What’s wrong with you today? Did Caroline upset you again?”
He hit the nail on the head.
David’s face darkened. “What does this have to do with her?“.
“Who else could provoke you like this?” Boris pressed. “Besides, she didn’t even come to work today.”
Boris pulled out a chair and sat down across from him. “This won’t do, David. Caroline is still an employee. If she keeps skipping work, how do you think the other employees will feel?”
“If she didn’t come, how is that my problem?”
“Unless it’s because you did something to her.”
David slammed the proposal down onto the table with a loud “bang.”
“Let’s talk business.”
“Fine.” Boris nodded, his tone serious.
The marketing plan in question was indeed full of problems. Boris frowned as he reviewed it, understanding why David was so furious. He made a mental note to hold a meeting and deliver some pointed criticism of the team.
As they discussed the issues, Boris’s phone rang. He casually answered and put it on speaker.
“What is it?”
“Mr. Boris, there’s a problem with the ‘Caroz‘ product line,” his secretary urgently reported. “That set of skincare products–about ten people who used the samples have experienced redness, stinging, and severe skin reactions!”
David and Boris froze, their expressions stiffening simultaneously.
At that moment, in the research and development department, over a dozen female employees were gathered, wearing masks and complaining loudly.

“Exactly! My skin was fine before, and now I can’t even go out in public.”

“Yeah, and I can’t wear makeup anymore. How am I supposed to meet clients like this?”
“Good thing we tested it internally first. If this had been launched, the Ellison Group’s reputation would’ve been ruined. Where’s the formulator? They need to explain this to us!”
Anna stood nearby, anxiously pacing and stomping her feet. What should I do?
It was baffling. She and Caroline had developed the formula together, using pure aloe vera extracts. There shouldn’t have been any skin–damaging effects.
“Everyone, please stay calm. This might be a misunderstanding,” Anna said, bowing slightly. “As one of the formulators, I have full confidence in this product. We will investigate what caused the skin reactions and…”
Before she could finish, the group erupted in complaints.
“Easy for you to say! The evidence is right here, and you’re still denying it.”
“Who’s the lead formulator? Get them out here!”
“Yeah, hiding won’t solve anything…”
The barrage of criticism left Anna speechless and overwhelmed. Yet she stood firm.
“Caroz‘ is not the problem. I stake my reputation on it,” she declared.
She believed in herself–and in Caroline.
Anna quickly left for the restroom, where she dialed Caroline’s number.
In front of others, she could maintain her composure, but as soon as she heard Caroline’s voice, she began to falter.
“Caroline, where are you? Are you almost at the office?”
“I’m on my way,” Caroline replied calmly.
