“Mr. Ellison… didn’t say you couldn’t eat, but he also didn’t say you could,” the servant replied. “So Paul told us to carry on as usual.”
Paul was a good person.
Caroline silently took note of this kindness in her heart.
Everyone in the Ellison residence had seen what happened last night. They all knew how lowly her status was. If Paul wanted to curry favor with David, he could have made things difficult for her.
But Paul didn’t.
For the sake of her child, Caroline finished all her food.
It was Saturday, so she didn’t have to go to the company. David was nowhere to be seen… Caroline was temporarily free.
Without hesitation, she took a taxi straight to the hospital.
She needed a proper check–up to make sure her baby was safe!
If not, Caroline would risk everything to fight Elizabeth!
Paul watched Caroline leave and didn’t stop her.
However, the servant was confused. “Why do you care so much about Madam? Mr. Ellison doesn’t even care whether she lives or dies, but Paul, you still make sure she has everything she needs, afraid she might be
mistreated.”
Paul didn’t answer directly but asked, “You saw what happened last night, didn’t you?”
“I did.”
“Then how did Madam return to her room in the end?”
The servant thought for a moment. “Mr. Ellison carried her back!”
“Exactly.” Paul let out a long sigh. “Madam’s true status isn’t about appearances—it’s about Mr. Ellison’s
actions.”
No matter how ruthless or cold David was, in the end, when Madam was unconscious, he personally carried
her back to the room.
That alone showed how important Madam was to Mr. Ellison.
Unfortunately, very few people could see this.
Even Mr. Ellison himself… might not realize it.
And Caroline understood even less.
Because she didn’t know David was the one who carried her back. She had no energy to think about such details. All she cared about was the safety of her child.

After the check–up, the doctor examined the results and said the baby was developing perfectly.
Only then did Caroline finally relax.
Thankfully, all her injuries were external. A few days of rest and she’d be fine.

Leaving the hospital, she noticed a large shopping mall across the street. On the LED screen outside, a children’s clothing advertisement was playing.
Caroline’s attention was instantly drawn.
Before she realized it, she was already standing in the children’s clothing section inside the mall.
In the window were beautiful little dresses, sporty outfits for boys, and sneakers…
“So pretty,” Caroline gazed at the clothes with anticipation. “I wonder if my baby will be a boy and a girl, or two girls, or two boys? If it’s twins–a boy and a girl–that would be perfect.”
She walked in and started browsing.
The store was huge, not only selling kids‘ clothes but also featuring a small play area and a wide variety of children’s products, dazzling and abundant.
Caroline wanted to buy everything she saw.
Only when picking things for her child did she feel truly alive in this world.
She held a rattle, gently shaking it as she walked, a happy smile on her face.
But as she turned a corner and walked to the next aisle, she wasn’t paying attention and bumped into
someone.
The items in that person’s hands scattered to the ground.
“I’m so sorry, so sorry!” Caroline quickly apologized, squatting down to help pick up the items. “I didn’t see you standing here.”
