Chapter 150 He Abuses You?
The man also crouched down. “It’s okay, I wasn’t watching where I was going either.”
That voice…
Caroline looked up at the man in front of her.
It was Nash.
What a coincidence–to run into him at the mall.
Finished
Caroline was bundled up tightly today, wearing long sleeves, long pants, a mask, and a hat to cover the injuries on her face and body.
So Nash didn’t recognize her at first.
But when she looked up at him, he met her gaze. Their eyes locked for a brief two seconds.
Caroline quickly looked away.
But… it was too late.
“Caroline?” Nash called out cautiously, “Is that you, Caroline?”
Those clear, familiar eyes–he couldn’t be mistaken.
Caroline tugged her mask higher and said nothing. She shoved the fallen items back into Nash’s arms and quickly got up to leave.
“Caroline!”
At this point, Nash didn’t care about the things in his hands. He hurriedly grabbed her.
“It’s me,” Caroline sighed. “But let’s just pretend we didn’t meet. We shouldn’t be seeing each other. If Julia sees this, she’ll misunderstand. And I… I can’t explain this to David.”
“I don’t care,” Nash blurted.
“But I do,” Caroline replied. “I care about Julia mocking me. I care about David misunderstanding our relationship.”
As she spoke, she tried to pull her hand away.
But Nash tightened his grip, accidentally touching one of her injuries.
“Hiss…” Caroline gasped softly.
“What’s wrong?” Nash noticed something was off. “Did I hurt you?”
But he hadn’t used much force at all.
Caroline shook her head. “No. I need to go.”
However, Nash was faster. He grabbed her wrist and lifted her sleeve.

On her fair skin, slender bruises stood out starkly–deep blue and purple.
A shocking sight.
Finished
Nash’s eyes filled with both heartache and shock. “Caroline, how did you get hurt? Who did this to you? Was it… Mr. Ellison? Did he lay hands on you? Is he abusing you?”
“This is my personal matter. It has nothing to do with you.”
Caroline forcefully pulled her hand back and quickly rolled her sleeve down.
To her, these weren’t just injuries–they were humiliation.
Nash’s chest heaved with anger. “David… he’s inhuman! You’re his wife! Even if he only married you into the Ellison family for some ridiculous ritual, he has no right to treat you like this! A man who beats a woman isn’t a man at all!”
What kind of life had Caroline been living since marrying into the Ellison family?
But what could Nash do?
He could spend money to buy her first night from the Brooks family to protect her dignity, but he couldn’t confront David. He couldn’t rescue her from this hell.
If Nash opposed David, he’d be gambling his future, the Newton Group’s future, and even Julia’s family.
Nash couldn’t afford that risk.
Yet Caroline remained calm. “Are you done? Can I leave now?”
His lips pressed tightly together. After a long pause, he softly asked, “Caroline… doesn’t it hurt?”
She smiled.
Of course, it hurt.
The slaps on her face, the kicks to her body–how could it not hurt?
But who would care?
And even if someone cared, what difference would it make?
No one could save her.
No one could help her.
