Chapter 183 Carrying David’s Child

“Look at you–you’re enjoying all the benefits now that Mr. Ellison has risen to the top. He has power, wealth, and status, and you get to share in that. Sure, back then, his situation wasn’t looking great, but… but even then, he was more than good enough for you.”
Caroline countered. “Such a great marriage–why did you give it to me, your adopted daughter, instead of your own biological daughter?”
“L”
Caroline pressed on. “And now? You’re trying so hard to push Elizabeth toward David? You want all the good things for yourselves while avoiding every bit of misfortune. Isn’t that right?”
For once, Samantha–who always had a sharp tongue–found herself at a loss for words, stumbling for a
response.
After a long silence, she sighed and turned to David with an expression of deep remorse. “Mr. Ellison, I’m sorry… I really can’t persuade Caroline. It’s my failure as a mother–I’ve troubled you,”
Matthew quickly chimed in, “Ah, what a mess. Mr. Ellison, I’m ashamed to ever face you. How about this -I’ll return the five billion dollars to the Ellison family, and you can divorce Caroline. The Ellison family would never accept a child like this anyway, so… we, the Brooks family, will raise it instead. After all, Caroline is my daughter.”
What a well–calculated scheme.
The Brooks, family wouldn’t willingly return five billion dollars unless there was something even more valuable astake.
If David and Caroline divorced, who was the most likely candidate to become his wife?
The answer was clear. Elizabeth.
Their biological daughter would become the powerful and respected David’s wife, the mistress of the Ellison family. With that status, half of the Ellison family’s wealth would be within her grasp–why would they care about five billion dollars?
And Caroline? She would become a discarded woman, powerless and abandoned. At that point, they could do whatever they wanted to her without a second thought.
“I’m not getting rid of my child,” Caroline said firmly. Stop wasting your time.”
David had remained silent, standing off to the side with a cold, unreadable expression, his lips pressed into a tight line.
But the moment Caroline made her stance clear, he suddenly let out a cold laugh.
The entire room fell into complete silence.
Everyone turned to look at him.
“Caroline,” David said, enunciating each word clearly, are you really determined to keep Nash’s bastard?”

David gripped her chin, tilting it up slightly. “Nash isn’the only man who can get you pregnant. And you’re not limited to only carrying his child. Do you understand?”
Caroline’s gaze flickered. She thought she understood but at the same time, she wasn’t sure.
What exactly is he implying?
“If you
I want a child, we can have one,” David said, his toe casual, as if he were discussing the weather. “Or do you think I’m incapable?”
Caroline’s eyes widened in shock.
What is he saying? We have a child? He wants me to carry his child? To bear the bloodline of the Ellison family?
David’s voice was commanding as he declared. “Get rid of that bastard. Carry my child instead. That’s the best path for you, Caroline. Do you hear me?”
She kept insisting that she wanted a child, that she needed someone in this world who shared her blood–a real family.
Fine. He could make that happen.
She and David could have a child.
David had put everything on the table. Now, it was up to Caroline.
If she still refused and insisted on keeping that bastard, there could only be one explanation- She wanted to give birth to Nash’s child. She still loved Nash. That was why she was willing to go to such lengths to protect the baby.
All that talk about family bonds, about an orphan longing for kin–it was all nonsense. Just an excuse.
