Once she found her phone, Caroline quickly located the number.
She hesitated for a moment, then dialed.
Beep, beep, beep…
The phone rang for what felt like an eternity, but no one answered.

After a long moment, Caroline simply nodded, without a word, and turned to go back upstairs.
With David’s orders, even if she sprouted wings, she wouldn’t be able to leave the Ellison residence.
What should I do now?
She felt utterly powerless.
Caroline returned to the master bedroom, her gaze lingering on the open door leading to the balcony.
