Nash lifted his head, his mouth slightly open as if to speak, but before he could utter a word, David’s foot slammed into his chest.
Blood trickled from the corner of his lips, splattering onto the floor in a crimson pool.
He didn’t fight back. He took the beating without resistance.
“Wait… Wait,” Nash gasped, dropping to one knee. He wiped his face carelessly, paying no mind to the blood smearing across his skin. “Mr. Ellison, you came here burning with rage, determined to kill me. Why? What could make you hate me this much?”
David’s expression was ice–cold. “You want to know why? Fine. I’ll make sure you die with a clear understanding!”
Nash didn’t blink. His gaze locked onto David’s.
“Then say it, Mr. Ellison.”
David’s voice was sharp as a blade. “Because you bought Caroline. Because on the night of our wedding, you took her virginity. And after that night, she got pregnant with your child. Even now, knowing the baby is yours, she refuses to give it up and is determined to bring it into this world. So tell me, Nash, do you think you deserve to live?”
He took a step closer, his words sharp and deliberate. “Did I make myself clear?”
David wasn’t just here for revenge. He was here to make Nash and the entire Newton family pay for what had been done.
He couldn’t take his anger out on Caroline, so he kept her by his side, slowly suffocating her under his control. But he could simply destroy Nash and the Newton family without a second thought.
Nash’s body began to tremble uncontrollably. The shaking was so intense that he could barely stay on his knees. His arms gave out, palms pressing against the cold floor as he struggled to stay upright.
“Caroline told me,” David continued with a mocking sneer, “that she never once mentioned her pregnancy to you. And now that you finally know the truth. How do you feel?”
“I… I…”
Nash’s teeth chattered. He couldn’t form a complete sentence.
David crouched down, his voice dripping with scorn. “So what’s your plan? Will you fight to the death to protect Caroline and your child? Or will you walk away refusing to take responsibility? Because once the Woods family learns about this, your engagement with Julia will be over.”
Without the Woods family’s support, Nash’s career would plummet.
David wondered whether Nash would choose his future or Caroline and the child.

David let out a cold, bitter laugh. “If Caroline were here to hear that, she’d probably be moved to tears.”
She loved Nash that much.
So much that David felt an unbearable jealousy.
“But,” Nash lifted his head, meeting David’s piercing gaze, “I said if.”
David’s eyes narrowed. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, I don’t get to make that choice.” Nash’s voice was steady now. “Because Caroline’s child isn’t mine.”
Silence filled the office.
