As he spoke, Paul shook his head, his tone filled with regret.
He truly wished Mr. Ellison and his wife
ive in harmony.

Caroline smiled. “Do you think he’s going to starve himself? Don’t worry about him.”
sat down and had a proper meal together.
“But, ma’am, it’s been a long time since you and Mr. Ellison Though, I suppose you did spend the night together last night.”
Caroline went quiet.
Paul quickly realized his slip and awkwardly lowered his head.
“Well, ma’am,” he tried to change the subject, “what exactly happened last night? Mr. Ellison called an ambulance, all the bodyguards were mobilized, and then… nothing came of it.”
Caroline was left speechless.
First thing in the morning, and he just has to bring up all the wrong topics!
Frustrated, she headed to the office. After last night’s celebration banquet, the way her colleagues looked at her…
Was completely different.
They all seemed hesitant, avoiding her, unwilling to interact too much.
“These people,” Anna huffed, “when they need something from you, they treated you so nice and friendly. But the moment you’re in trouble, they scatter like rabbits. Unbelievable! Caroline, you should stop helping them. It’s a waste of your time!”
Caroline responded, “Given my situation right now, they’re better off keeping their distance.”
“Caroline, you-”
“Anna, you should keep your distance, too,” she warned. “Do you hear me?”
Anna opened her mouth to protest, but Caroline gently squeezed her hand. “Enough, don’t think too much about it. Go take care of your work–I need to stop by the marketing department.”
“Alright.”
As she waited for the elevator, she had the worst luck–Andrew was there, too.
Caroline immediately turned to leave.
Well, well, isn’t this the big hero of ‘Caroz?” Andrew called out. “Why are you turning away the moment you see me? Not taking the elevator anymore? Or do you think I’m blocking your path? Come on, I’ll make way for you.”
Other employees passing by turned to look at Caroline

“How could I possibly accept such deference from our esteemed director?” she said smoothly. “You give me too much credit.”
Andrew smirked. “You deserve it. After all, I heard all about the banquet last night. Even Mr. Ellison himself singled you out for praise–your influence must be incredible.”
His tone was dripping with sarcasm as he looked at her with a mocking glint in his eyes.
Everyone in Ellison Group knew the truth–Caroline had angered David, been publicly humiliated at the banquet, had wine poured all over her, and still had to endure the entire event with a forced smile.
Andrew hadn’t attended the banquet, deliberately avoiding it since he knew David would be there with Elizabeth.
Now, Caroline’s status had plummeted overnight.
Thinking about how she had once forced him to call her “sister–in–law,” Andrew burned with resentment.
She was nothing but a decoy bride, while he was a legitimate Ellison family heir–yet she had dared to act superior to him.
And in the battle for power within the Ellison family, Andrew’s defeat had a lot to do with Caroline.
He had made a fatal mistake–trying to take advantage of Caroline by David’s hospital bed–giving David all the leverage he needed to crush him.
Andrew had been keeping track of every grudge.
Caroline despised the way he was looking at her. Her expression turned cold, and she simply ignored him, pretending he didn’t exist.
But Andrew wasn’t about to let her off so easily. He deliberately leaned in closer and sneered, “Caroline…”
