Just as he picked up his phone, Elizabeth’s call came through.
Well, isn’t that perfect timing?
“Baby-” he drawled in a greasy tone.
“Andrew, I’m pregnant!” Elizabeth’s excited voice rang through the phone. “I had it checked and confirmed -I’m really pregnant! There’s a baby inside me!”
Andrew was instantly thrilled. “What? That’s amazing!”
“Yes! I secretly went to a private hospital to double–check. It’s official. Our plan has taken its first big step forward!”
Andrew grinned. “My baby’s been working hard. All those nights I spent planting seeds finally paid off… Your body sure did its job!”
Elizabeth laughed. “Honestly, I only went to get checked on a whim. I wasn’t expecting anything. But look at this–what a surprise!”
The two of them basked in their shared joy.
Elizabeth was no longer faking it. A real pregnancy meant real symptoms, real checkups–no more acting.
And when the baby was born…
Her future would be secured!
“Take good care of yourself,” Andrew reminded her. “I’ll come see you tonight.”,
“I’m already pregnant. Why would you come over?”
Elizabeth still hated Andrew’s touch. If it weren’t for getting pregnant, she would have never let him near
her.
She looked down on him.
Now that she had gotten what she wanted, she no longer had to entertain him.
“To keep you company,” Andrew said. “And I want to see my child.”
We’ll see. If you come too often, someone might get suspicious. Besides, now that I’m pregnant… you can’t touch me anymore.”
Andrew was about to protest, but Elizabeth quickly cut him off. “I have things to do. We’ll talk later.”

Meanwhile, Elizabeth smirked after hanging up.
“Your child? Sure, technically. But on paper… this is Mr. Ellison’s child.”
She placed a hand over her still–flat stomach.
“This baby guarantees me a lifetime of wealth and status.”
Whether it was David or Andrew–she would play both sides.
Now that her pregnancy was confirmed, she could finally breathe easy.
Before, she had been constantly on edge, afraid of being exposed. But now? I have nothing to worry about.
That night, the city lights flickered as darkness settled in.
Caroline worked late, only returning to the Ellison residence at this hour.
As she stepped into the living room, she suddenly paused.
Something crossed her mind. She softened her steps, moving cautiously, peeking inside.
David shouldn’t be home… right?
She glanced around, scanning the room.
Apart from a few servants, there was no sign of him. Good. He isn’t here.
