Chapter 362 Mr Ellison Is Here; I Have to Go
“Mr. Nash didn’t plan on seeing you today, but when he did, he couldn’t ignore how much you’ve been struggling. He just wanted to let you know–so you wouldn’t be caught off guard.”
After a moment of hesitation, Caroline nodded. “Alright.”
“I understand, Ms. Brooks.”
“Tell Nash to do what he can, but don’t push it. If he finds something, great. If not, it’s fine. It’s really not that important.”
To her, the father’s identity didn’t matter. The only thing that did was her child.
What mattered more than anything was stopping David from taking her baby away.
The driver looked like he was about to say something, but his expression suddenly shifted as his gaze flickered into the distance.
“Mr. Ellison is here–I just spotted him,” he muttered. “Ms. Brooks, I have to go.”
Without wasting another second, he turned and left swiftly, his footsteps quick but steady.
Getting caught by David would only complicate things.
The driver’s exit was smooth and efficient.
Caroline adjusted her expression, lowered her head, and absentmindedly kicked at a small rock–acting as if the conversation had never taken place.
Within moments, David was standing next to her.
His gaze followed the driver’s retreating figure. “Who was that?”
“Who?” Caroline asked, pretending not to understand.
David gestured toward the man who had just left. “The one you were just talking to.”
The driver was already almost out of sight.
Caroline sighed internally. David’s instincts were as sharp as ever. Even though the driver had left just in time, he still caught on.
“Don’t play dumb with me,” David said coldly. “I asked you a question. Answer properly.”
Seeing no way out, Caroline quickly came up with a lie. “I don’t know him. He was just a passerby. I was waiting for you here, and he stopped to ask for directions. I pointed him in the right direction. That’s all. Why are you making such a big deal out of nothing?”
“Out of nothing? That doesn’t seem unimportant,” David said.
“It is nothing!” Caroline snapped. “I’ve been waiting for you for over an hour. Are you done yet? Can we go home now?”
David’s eyes lingered on her for a moment.

Chapter 362 Mr Ellison Is Here, I Have to Go
For some reason, his stare made her uneasy–like he saw right through her.
Caroline’s chest tightened. She averted her gaze.

David couldn’t possibly be that sharp… could he? There was no way he had already sensed something was off this quickly.
Unless… he had bugged her.
The thought sent a shiver down her spine. Instinctively, she started checking herself, patting down her clothes.
She brushed her hands over her sleeves, collar, and pockets, searching for anything that felt out of place.
“What are you doing?” David asked.
“Nothing.”
Her words denied it, but her hands kept searching.
David scoffed, grabbed her by the collar, and tossed her into the car.
“Go home.” He slammed the door shut.
Caroline didn’t find anything and figured she was probably overthinking it, but she still couldn’t shake the feeling.
Even so, she needed to stay alert. Even if there was no bug on her, David could have planted one in her bag or jewelry. She had to be extra careful moving forward–just to be safe.
The car sped down the darkened streets, disappearing into the night.
A short distance away, parked discreetly along the roadside, sat a black Mercedes.
It had been sitting there for quite some time.
The driver walked while glancing around, staying highly alert.
