Caroline stomped her foot in irritation. Forget it. Determined, she headed toward the door. But as soon as she reached the entrance, the guards stopped her.
“Madam, you’re not allowed to leave.”
“Why?”
“It’s Mr. Ellison’s order.”
Caroline crossed her arms. “And what if I insist?”
The guards hesitated, clearly uncomfortable. “Madam, we’re just following instructions.”
“Then tell him you failed to stop me. I’ll handle the consequences. She pushed forward, but the guards quickly blocked her. Though they didn’t dare lay a hand on her, their retreat left them holding the line.
Caroline realized she couldn’t get past them. Just then, car pulled up nearby. Harper rolled down the window and smiled at her.
“Madam Harper?” Caroline asked, surprised. “What brings you here?”
“Caroline, it’s great to see you home!” Harper said cheerfully. “I brought some things for you and David–a little something to show I care.”
The car stopped by the garden, and the trunk popped open, revealing its contents. It was filled with collagen peptides, marine collagen, ginseng, and beauty products. There were even collagen supplements and oysters to promote vitality.
Harper’s intentions couldn’t have been clearer,
“Caroline, you’re too thin. Women need proper nutrition to maintain their health and beauty. It’ll also make pregnancy easier and less stressful, Harper explained warmly. “David is overworked, always busy. with meetings. J brought him some things too.”
