Chapter 53 Under Mom’s Watchful Eyes
Caroline was overwhelmed with shame. The first time she lost her innocence, it was against her will. Now, it seemed like she was going to be forced again. She couldn’t even protect her own body.

David had buried his face against her neck, but he suddenly froze. Her voice–it was so much like Elizabeth’s that night. The tone, the trembling, the helpless confusion–it was identical. But back then. even with her protests, David had carried on to counter the effects of the drug.

What? Caroline turned her head toward the door and spotted a faint shadow under it. Someone was indeed standing right outside.
“Make some noise,” David ordered, his hand pinching her waist hard, “Louder.”
The sudden pain made Caroline cry out. As the pain subsided, his hand began to move gently across her waist, sending tingles up her spine as though electric currents were sparking along her skin.
It tickled–terribly.
“Stop… stop, it tickles too much…David, enough, please Caroline was so sensitive to tickling that his actions made her helpless.
Outside the door, the servant listened to the commotion and smiled, satisfied that the task was complete. They hurried off to report back to Harper.

Caroline quickly rolled to the opposite side of the bed wrapping herself in a blanket. Her cheeks were bright red. Fortunately, it seemed David was only playing along for Harper’s sake and didn’t actually wait her. She had misunderstood him.

conflicted.
Why had his body responded to her?
When he had leaned over her earlier, the primal urge to possess her had been overwhelming. Her smooth skin, the delicate curve of her shoulder, and the way she squirmed when tickled had nearly pushed him past his limits.

Cursing under his breath, David turned the shower to fall blast, letting cold water pour over him to suppress the heat building inside.
