Chapter 94 Copied Too Many Times to Destroy
Caroline wished she could disappear from David’s side entirely.
Sleeping together? Yeah, right. He’s on his king–sized bed, and I’m crammed on the tiny sofa.
At least she wasn’t sleeping on the floor–that was about the only shred of decency David had left.
Elizabeth sighed. “The things I can only dream of, Caroline gets so easily. And then she says these things just to upset me…”
As she spoke, she linked her arm through David’s. “Mr. Ellison, I have just one small request. Could we have dinner together tonight? Since we met, we’ve had so few beautiful moments together.”
David’s face remained indifferent, his brows slightly furrowed.
Elizabeth lowered her head. “It seems I’m putting you in a difficult position. Forget it, Mr. Ellison. It was thoughtless of me. Perhaps that night… should never have happened.”
There she goes again. What night is she talking about? Caroline thought.
Dayid owed Elizabeth for whatever had happened that night, and she wasn’t going to let him forget it
Caroline was utterly confused. What night? What does she mean? Is there some secret between David and Elizabeth that I don’t know about? Did they fall in love overnight?
Elizabeth slowly stood, looking like she was on the verge of tears but trying hard to hold them back. “I’ll leave now, Mr. Ellison. Maybe the only time I matter is when you want to see me.”
Caroline was barely holding back an eye roll.
What a melodrama. A mistress and a scumbag acting like star crossed lovers. Aren’t they tired?
She was exhausted just watching their little performance.
As Elizabeth turned to leave, Caroline looked at David seriously. “You’re not going to stop her?”
David shot her a cold glance. Is she actually encouraging me to go after another woman? Unbelievable.
“Are you going to stop her or not?” Caroline pressed. “You’re such a typical clueless man. When a woman lingers like this, it usually means she’s waiting for you to ask her to stay.”
“Shut your mouth,” David said icily.
“I’m not joking,” Caroline said, blinking innocently. “Because if you won’t stop her, I will.”
David squinted at her. “You?”
“Yes,” Caroline said, nodding. She raised her voice. “Wait a second, Elizabeth. Come back–I have something for you.”
David lounged back lazily on the couch. Let’s see what nonsense she’s up to this time.
Elizabeth turned around, puzzled. “Something for me?

“Yes.”
“What is it?”
“Come here and get it,” Caroline replied.
She reached into her bag, pulled out some papers, and handed them over.
Elizabeth took them hesitantly, unfolding them.
Finished
The moment she saw what was on the pages, her expression changed dramatically. She quickly shut them, her face pale as a sheet.
“Aren’t you going to look more carefully?” Caroline asked. “Did you even see what’s on them?”
Elizabeth had seen enough–too much, in fact. Where did Caroline get these?
“What’s that?” David asked, his voice low and commanding. “Hand it over.”
Elizabeth stepped back in panic. “No… nothing, Mr. Ellison.”
There was no way she could let David see those papers.
Without hesitation, she began tearing the documents into pieces, shredding them into several fragments before crumpling them into a tight ball in her hand.
Her frantic behavior didn’t escape David’s notice, and he immediately sensed something was wrong.
Caroline, watching Elizabeth destroy the papers, didn’t intervene. Instead, she said calmly, “It’s fine. I’ve made plenty of copies. You can’t tear them all.”
She reached into her bag again and pulled out a thick stack of papers, fanning them out with a dramatic flourish. “See this, Elizabeth? There are no secrets that won’t come to light!”
