“You… you…” Elizabeth stammered, her legs almost giving out from under her. “Where did you get this?!”
She rushed forward, trying to snatch the document, bu Caroline didn’t dodge. Instead, she calmly handed it over.
“Here, take it. Tear it up if you want. I don’t care. Elizabeth, the more you act like this, the more you show how guilty you are.”
Elizabeth froze mid–action. How on earth had Caroline managed to get a copy of her bank transfer records? Such private information requires significant authority to access. There is no way Caroline could have done it alone.
“This is fake. It has to be fake!” Elizabeth quickly shifted tactics, accusing Caroline in return. “You forged this to frame me! You’re so conniving, so cruel!”
“Whether it’s real or not is easy to prove. It doesn’t matter what I say or what you claim. The truth lies in someone else’s hands.” Caroline turned to David.
“You should take a look at this.” She extended the document toward him. “On the day I was kidnapped, Elizabeth’s account transferred money twice to the same stranger.”
Caroline’s memory was vivid. The thug had mentioned someone paid 700,000 USD for the child in her womb. These transfers were likely just the deposit. The remaining money would probably have been paid after the deed, likely through non–personal accounts for such a large amount.
But none of that mattered now. Those two deposits alone were irrefutable evidence.
David accepted the document, his eyes scanning the amounts and timestamps.
Elizabeth panicked. “Mr. Ellison, don’t let her fool you! This is a forgery! Why would I transfer money to a stranger without reason? She’s trying to frame me, to ruin us, to drive a wedge between us!”
David said nothing.
Caroline, however, questioned Elizabeth lightly. “If you’re so confident it’s fake, why did you immediately try to destroy it instead of denying it outright?”
“I… I…” Elizabeth stuttered, unable to provide a coherent answer.
Her gaze at Caroline brimmed with hatred. This vile woman! She actually managed to dig up evidence against
me!
“David, go ahead and verify it,” Caroline said. “There’s no point in arguing.”
She trusted Nash, and she trusted that the documents he provided were genuine. Elizabeth’s reaction only confirmed their authenticity.
David casually placed the papers to the side, leaning back as his eyes bore into Elizabeth.
Under his sharp gaze, Elizabeth faltered, her body swaying as though she might collapse.
“Do

have anything else to say?” David asked, his tone calm but firm. “Hmm?”

“Mr. Ellison, please, listen to me!”
He interrupted her harshly, his voice laced with menace. “Yes or no!”
David’s cold voice echoed throughout the living room.
Elizabeth flinched, trembling as she hesitated for several seconds. At last, she nodded in defeat.
“…Yes.” She admitted, her voice barely audible. “I did it.”
David, who had been lounging with his legs crossed, instantly sat upright and stood, his movements abrupt and full of suppressed anger.
Startled by his sudden movement, Elizabeth’s legs gave out. She collapsed onto the couch, her entire body trembling.
Scrambling, she crawled toward him, clutching at his pant leg. “Mr. Ellison, I… I wasn’t thinking clearly… It was just a moment of madness…”
