Chapter 51
Chapter 51
Ortega received Samuel’s email to check on someone but he believed that it wasn’t urgent, and his business with Lilian Murillo was more urgent than anything else. He just confirmed that Vanessa was his child and yet the woman didn’t mention anything about it, or demand something from him. He was treated like he was long dead and it made him furious!
After lunch, he immediately set off to Oslob to see her, and this time, he would make sure that she wouldn’t be able to deny his charm or his right for their child. There’s no way that he would allow her to ignore his existence! It was past dinner time when he arrived in front of their gate and it was Paloma who let him in.
“Ortega! Did you leave anything important in our house?” Paloma asked the agency owner who was a VIP on her birthday but the man left in a hurry with his friend Marcus Madrigal. Actually, Paloma still found it hard to believe that Ortega was friends with Daniella’s husband.
“Yes, Mother,” Ortega answered, and the old woman nodded. When he attended her birthday, before he knew that Lilian was her daughter, he asked for her permission to call her mother as Paloma was of the same age as his biological mother.
“Then, come in.” Paloma opened the gate widely to give way to the man’s car.
“Why are you outside, Mother? Where’s Patty and your other staff?” He asked when he didn’t see anyone except Paloma Murillo.
“My daughters went on a trip with their daughters,” Paloma answered. Lilian and Daniella left this morning and they took Patty and Thalia.
“Where?” Ortega was curious to know the women’s location.
“That I don’t know. It was a sudden trip and they didn’t even invite me! I should scold them when they’re back,” Paloma said. It was a joke of course as Lilian invited her to go with them but she refused. A few days ago, her energy was spent on her party and she needed more time to recover, plus there would be no one to manage the estate and their business while they were on a trip.
“Any clue of their destination?” He should know where they went or his trip to Oslob would be wasted.
“I’m sorry but I can’t tell you anything about it,” Paloma replied. She made a promise to her daughters that no one would know about their destination, but Gerald would be an exemption as he was considered part of their family. Daniella mentioned a bucket list of things that she and Lilian should accomplish together with their toddler. Patty and Thalia were asked to join them to take photos and not to take care of their daughters. Each one of them brought an ergonomic baby carrier that could carry up to twenty–five kilograms.
“Mother, please? I just want to know where Lilian took our daughter.” He had no choice! It should have been a secret, especially to Paloma but he couldn’t do anything unless he had an idea of their location. Although he could ask someone from his office to track them, it would still be easier to gather the vital information from Paloma.
“Your daughter? What do you mean by that, Alexander?” Their friendship allowed her to call the man by his first name.
“I think I’m Vanessa’s father,” he answered.
“You think you’re the one who impregnated my daughter? Why? Did she have another lover aside from you?” Paloma felt insulted when Alexander Ortega played safe with his words.
“I’m not sure, Mother but Lilian denied my claim about her daughter. She won’t tell me anything!” After he left the party to accompany his friend Marcus to go back where they came from, he kept in touch with Lilian but the brat always disconnected his call.
“That brat! Now I understand why she wasn’t being herself on my birthday, and it’s because of you!” Paloma ranted.
“Yes, Mother. So, can you tell where they are now?” There was a smile at the corner of his lips as he waited for Paloma’s response.
“Get out!” She yelled. If Lilian didn’t want anything to do with Ortega then it only means that the man was a bastard!
“Mother, hear me out, please. I’m the victim here,” he insisted.
Paloma smirked at the man who tried to sweet talk her just to gain knowledge of her daughter’s whereabouts. Well, he could rot in hell and she wouldn’t care at all! “Birds of the same feather, flocked together Alexander. I can no longer blame Daniella for refusing to take your friend back into her life after he cheated.”
Alexander Ortega closed his eyes and wished that Marcus came with him. Dealing with Paloma has become a struggle and it seemed that she had thrown their friendship into a gutter. “I am not a bird, Mother. Your daughters are quick to judge us, but I and Marcus are good people.” He explained.

“I’m not your mother so stop calling me that! Leave now or I’ll report you to the police for trespassing!” She warned him. With her loud voice, their driver Peter would surely hear the very well, and with just a flick of her finger, the police would be notified,
God, it was hopeless! If only Paloma would support him for Lilian, his problem would be lessened by half, but Paloma shot daggers at him and he couldn’t risk being shot or being reported to the police. It would damage his reputation! “Can you let me stay here, the mother while waiting for them?” He asked.
“No!” Paloma answered and shoved him away. Ortega had no choice but to leave before their neighbors would gather to gossip. There were several lodging houses in Oslob and he would just stay there temporarily until Lilian was back from her trip. He drove into town and chose the inn close to Lilian’s residence.
After checking in, he called Marcus to let him know that he was in Oslob and that he should come to help him with his situation. He promised to come but he was busy with Alicia Ramirez and he could hear the woman’s voice on the other line. Marcus seemed to be having fun with the woman, while he was out in the wilderness and didn’t know what to have for dinner.
His brain was stressed out when Paloma got mad at him because he expected his client to help him with his case about Lilian Murillo. However, she turned him down and she was also mad. How could he deal with two furious women?
“Call me later,” he told Marcus before he ended the call and explored the town to look for something good to eat.
