Chapter 126
Chapter 126
“I’m going to sleep.” For the very first time, Quinlyn felt a bit overwhelmed and wanted to leave.
“Wait, just two minutes.” Raymond stepped closer, holding another gift box. “This is my apology to Mandy. She’s on my team. I should have trusted her right away today, but I didn’t.”
Actually, it wasn’t Raymond’s fault. He and Mandy had only just met, and in front of the cameras at that. People tend to trust those they know, which is only natural.
“You can give it to her when she wakes up,” Quinlyn said. “Shouldn’t a personal apology be more sincere?”
Being seen through by Quinlyn, Raymond sighed and sat down. “Fine. In fact, I also want to talk to you.”

Quinlyn said, “I need to sleep.”
Raymond smiled and said, “Are you annoyed with me? You’re not really sleepy.”
Quinlyn didn’t know what to say. Raymond meant no harm; he was just a bit talkative. She couldn’t be rude to him.
They sat on the bench. The night sky was clear, dotted with stars.
“I want to explain Yolanda’s behavior today,” Raymond said, a bit uneasy and shy. “Yolanda and I are in a relationship. We love each other.”
Quinlyn, sitting beside him, kept a straight face. She was starting to think he was a fool again.
“She’s not a bad person,” Raymond went on. “She’s just protective. I don’t know how she met that girl, but she took her in and treated her like her daughter. Maybe it’s because she knows what being an orphan feels like.
“Yolanda also grew up in an orphanage. Many years later, she met the Lynch family, thinking that she was their long–lost daughter, only to find out it was a mistake.
“Although the Lynch family adopted her and gave her a wealthy life, she still feels lonely inside. She is competitive, which often leads to misunderstandings with others.”
Raymond babbled on about Yolanda. It was clear he truly liked her, but didn’t really understand her.
Quinlyn believed that Yolanda was evil.
“Mr. Flynn, are you….” Quinlyn thought of an adjective. “Are you simp for her?”
Being amused by her seriousness, Raymond couldn’t hold back his laughter. “No. I just believe in the goodness of people. If I think someone is good, I’ll trust them completely.”
“Even with proof of their wrongdoing in front of you?” Quinlyn asked.
Raymond glanced at her. “Have you seen her do anything wrong?”
Quinlyn fell silent. She remembered that at her birthday party, Yolanda had deliberately shown off her body to attract rich businessmen. What was more, she had stood up for Harriet and targeted Mandy.
But these were to protect her own interests, not really evil deeds.

“Or if you find out something about her, tell me. I’ll be impartial.” With his last words, he put on a serious face, like an old

man. Quinlyn finally smiled. Now she understood why he was so popular.
Raymond was kind–hearted. He radiated warmth, with pure eyes that made others believe in the goodness of the world.
A night breeze brought a sudden chill to the suburbs.
After Raymond left, Quinlyn returned to the tent. She tucked in Mandy, who had kicked the blanket off. Then she got into her down quilt. She stared at the small night light on the ceiling, lost in thought.
She wondered if she had been living on the border for too long, making her think everyone was evil.
As night fell, the production crew slept in peripheral vehicles. Security guards took turns patrolling the lawn.
In a nearby nanny car with curtains drawn, lights blazed.
Yolanda held a cigarette between her fingers. Before any operation, she’d use nicotine to stay alert and be very cautious.
Her phone buzzed. She picked it up and giggled sweetly. “Barrow, I’m ready here. Yeah, they’re just little girls, but they both look good. The two are about the same age and can be sold together.”
“Okay; send someone over.” After hanging up, she tapped Harriet on the ground with her toe and glanced down. The girl was drugged and wouldn’t wake until morning.
Yolanda had told Harriet to help her stage a show to get rid of the suspicion, but in the end, she decided to sell this useless little girl.
Thinking about her plan with no pity, Yolanda crushed the cigarette in her hand and got out of the car to carry out the routine inspection.
The rich kids had a lot of guards, who kept a tight watch on these tents. Yolanda figured she’d have to go through the bush to kidnap Quinlyn.
While thinking how to lure Quinlyn’s guards away, she spotted a small figure leaving a tent.
‘Who’s that?‘ Yolanda was curious. As the figure moved beyond the protected area and toward the road, she hid behind a car. “Hello, Lucy, how’s my mom? Is it serious? Oh, okay. Are you sure you don’t need me to go back?” The boy spoke in a low voice, not to disturb others‘ sleep. While talking to the phone, he walked toward the lawn near the road.
By the dim starlight, Yolanda saw a good–looking profile. Some distant memories flooded in, making her dazed for a
moment.
The boy reminded her of someone she knew. She couldn’t resist stepping forward for a closer look.
The boy was Quinton. He was still on the phone, worried about his mother’s sudden illness and her insistence on seeing him.
Finally, his nanny, Lucy, put the phone on speaker. Quinton whispered soothingly, “Mom, don’t worry. I’m not lost; I’m just out with classmates. If you can’t sleep, shall I sing you a song?”
Then he closed his mouth and hummed a soothing tune with melodic turns, which sounded like some foreign country music. It connected the mother and son of both ends of the phone.
The tune made Yolanda, a few steps away, freeze in her tracks. She realized the song, but she had no idea why Quinton knew it. She started to wonder who his mother was.
After Quinton humming the song twice patiently, Janet finally fell asleep.
He told Lucy to take good care of his mother, saying that he would be back as soon as possible. Then he hung up, sighed

with relief, and turned to go back. But he saw Yolanda standing by the road.
When Yolanda saw Quinton’s face, her expression turned wildly distorted and instantly twisted into something grotesque. She lunged at him.
Quinton was startled and tried to struggle, but Yolanda was very strong. She covered his mouth and strangled him with one hand, her grip tightening. Her eyes were filled with madness and cruelty.
“It really surprised me that you’re still alive and even had his child. But I have bad news for you; you’re doomed to die by my hand!” Yolanda laughed.
