Chapter 35
Chapter 35
The big bald man wasn’t ready to give up yet. He slammed his foot on the brake again and again. But then, the back end of his car smashed into the guardrail, and he had a sinking feeling in his stomach.
“Ah! Help me! Help me! He yelled, rolling down the window, his voice barely reaching through the rush of wind as the car swerved halfway up the mountain. Within seconds, his face was drenched in tears.
Behind him, a car sped through the wind, swerving around him with ease. It didn’t slow down, not even for a second. Ir didn’t hesitate, avoiding the crash and continuing on its way
As it passed, the bald man caught a glimpse of a child’s face through one of the car windows.
Her bright eyes stared at him–calm and emotionless. There was no fear or smiles. It was just the empty look of someone who was already saying goodbye.
The bald man froze. He remembered her from earlier. Just before they went into the lounge, he’d seen her for a split second when he turned around to light a cigarette. She had been standing right by their cars.
So it was her… he thought.
But it was too late to think about any of that now,
The wind howled, biting through the air. As his car plunged to the ground, a loud explosion ripped through the silence, followed by a series of deafening bangs. Flames shot up into the sky. The other cars had no choice but to stop.
Larry quickly pulled over at the next mountain pass, his heart pounding. As he opened the car door, he felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. His legs almost buckled.
“Stanley, send someone up!” Quinlyn called into the radio briefly. Then she quickly unbuckled her seatbelt and jumped out
of the car.
“Boss Boss!” the man with yellow hair screamed, his voice cracking.
He collapsed on the ground at the bend in the road, his face twisted in pain as he looked at the burning wreckage of the car. He knew his boss was gone for good. Clenching his fist in frustration, he pounded the ground.
“Why? Why did this happen?” he shouted.
It was supposed to be an easy task. Then they could kick back, have some drinks, and relax with women.
But now their plan went up in smoke.
He couldn’t make sense of it until he heard footsteps behind him. He turned his head, and there stood Larry. His face went red, a rush of anger flooding his chest. Without thinking, he lunged at him,
“I’ll kill you!” he snarled, his voice filled with rage.
Larry was caught completely off guard, too scared to even move. He didn’t try to defend himself as the man knocked him to the ground, gripping his neck tightly. In just a few seconds, his breath became shallow, and his vision started to fade.
People nearby at the racetrack tried to rush over to help, but they were immediately stopped by the bald man’s men.
“An eye for an eye! A life for a life!” a thug barked, his voice dripping with arrogance and indignation. “Our boss is dead because of you. Now it’s only fair you pay with yours.”
The yellow–haired man, whose face was contorted with grief, locked eyes with Larry. A dangerous glint flashed in his eyes. “That’s right. You killed our boss. Now I get to kill you.”

He squeezed harder, pressing down on Larry’s that.
For someone like Larry, no knife was necessary to finish him off. A couple more squeezes and his neck would snap.
The thought of splining the money with the others once Larry was gone made the yellow–haired guy smile cruelly.
But just as he was about to snap Larry’s neck, something heavy slammed into his back. An arm wrapped around his throat, and before he could react, a wave of pain shot through his shoulder.
“Ab” the yellow haired man yelped, his voice heaking
Larry took the opportunity, pulling away quickly. He glanced up, his eyes wide, and then he saw Quinlyn crouching behind the thug. In her hand was a utility knife, the blade now buried in his shoulder.
She had struck with lightning speed, precise and deadly. As she yanked the knife out, it ripped a new wave of pain through him, a spray of blood splattering across the floor.
Without missing a beat, she pressed the blade against his neck.
“Don’t move,” she warned coldly. “Or I’ll stab you right here.”
Her innocent voice didn’t make things any less dangerous. After the quick, precise strike she had delivered earlier, her voice now sounded almost chilling and terrifying to the yellow–haired man.
He couldn’t see Quinlyn’s face, but he could feel the very real threat of death. His hands shot up in surrender, and through gritted teeth, he pleaded. “Please… Don’t kill me.
“Get up.” Quinlyn ordered, her voice sharp. She gestured for him to stand and then forced him to walk toward the group of thugs.
Only when they were all facing her did she lift her head, her bright eyes locking onto them. “You’ve all killed before,” she said calmly
Her words sent shivers down the thugs‘ spines.
The people standing near the racetrack immediately took a few steps back, fearing they might be killed next.
The thugs in front of her dropped their masks, revealing their bloodshot, murderous stares.
One of them sneered, looking down at her. “Little girl,” he said. “Since you know so much, you should also understand that taking a hostage won’t save you. Whether he lives or dies, we’re still coming for the Hill family’s young master.
For these desperate criminals, loyalty meant nothing compared to money.
Quinlyn knew this better than they did, which is exactly why she didn’t use the hostage to threaten them.
Tve already called the cops,” she said slowly, making sure they heard every word.
Immediately, their expressions shified. Panic flashed across their faces.
“Five minutes, Quinlyn added, her voice colder now. “If you leave now, you might still have a chance to get away.”
They knew they couldn’t afford to get caught.
Without another word, they bolted, running toward their cars and jumping in without even stopping to question whether Quinlyn’s claim was true,
Anyone who knew they had killed people would have called the police already.

The group, which had stormed in like a tornado, now turned their cars around and fed in a mil panic
Quinlyn remained where she wo perched on the yellow–haired guy’s back, watching them disappear into the distance. The didn’t move until she was absolutely sure they weren’t in York Finally, she did off him and walked over to the racetrack stall Grab him the sall
The stall hesitated, uncertain. But when they saw the yellow haired man lying motionless, they rushed forward to restrain
him.
Right then. Larry slowly get to his feet and walked over to Quinlyn. his voice a line shaky as he asked. “A–Are you alright?”
Qainlyn nodded, brushing off her hands. “Yeah, I’m fine, the kid coolly She wiped the blade of her utility knife on the grass by the side of the road folded it, and rocked it back into her pocket
Larry couldn’t help but swallow hard as he watched how unfazed she was. He forced out a nervous laugh “Man, lucky you called the cops in time. Things could’ve really gone south”
Huh Quindyn gave him a confused look, furrowing her brows. “I didn’t call the cops, the said casually, still calm as ever.
“What” Larry froze, his mouth hanging open in surprise. He pointed in the direction of thugs and then back at the guy yellow hair. ““Wait Why
with
Quinlyn shrugged as if it was no big deal. “I was just scaring them off,” she said nonchalantly. If it wasn’t for tricks like that, she wouldn’t have made it this long out here on the border.”
Before Larry could respond. Stanley and the crew showed up, pulling up in their cars. When Larry saw it was just the staff, he was sure she hadn’t called the cops.
“No way. Stanley, your sister’s crazy!” Larry exclaimed, still feeling rattled. He shook his head in disbelief. “She messed with people like that, right in front of a killer? She’s out of her mind!”
Stanley glanced down at the hillside where the flames were now only embers. He turned to Larry, rolling his eyes. “If we call the police, how are you gonna explain the dead guy down there? Word gets out, and your whole racetrack is done for
Larry’s shoulders sagged as he processed Stanley’s words. “Yeah, you’re right…” he said quietly. After a moment, he nodded. I let my family take care of it. Anyway, today was one hell of a lucky break.”
Stanley watched Larry slump against a rock. He snorted, walked over, and smacked him on the back of his head. “You were acting all tough back there,” Stanley teased. “Now you’re freaking out? If it weren’t for Quinlyn, you’d be meeting the Grim Reaper today”
