Chapter 43
Chapter 43
The standout in this situation was undoubtedly Harriet. Everyone noticed a surprising stack of books on Harrier’s desk–an assortment of Mordorian editions.
“Wow, these books look pretty tough Harriet, can you really understand them?” one curious classmate asked.
Well, I accidentally wandered into that section during my last visit to the library. It felt like trying to figure out a really confusing text, Harriet replied.
In response to the curious glances from her peers. Harriet smiled modestly and continued, “Honestly, I do read in my spare time. I just ran out of books at home recently, so I borrowed some more from the library.
I might have gotten a bit carried away, but I read quickly. I should be able to return them on time.
Her words brought expressions of admiration and respect from her classmates.
As Quinlyn walked past, she unintentionally looked at one of the storybooks in Harriet’s pile, pressing her lips together in what seemed like discontent.
Harriet, who had picked up on Quinlyn’s gaze, immediately flashed a smile and remarked, “Quinlyn, are you jealous? Unfortunately, you probably won’t be able to join this selection process, considering you just got here and are still catching
- up.
“Even if you join the basketball team, it looks like your height is lacking too.”
With that one comment. Harriet hinted at issues with both Quinlyn’s height and intelligence.
The students gathered around Harriet’s desk felt her words were quite sharp and sensed a desire to defend Quinlyn, but they noticed that Quinlyn quietly stepped back. She looked utterly dejected and embarrassed.
“Harriet, even if you are truly amazing, Quinlyn isn’t without her own strengths. She just arrived a bit late, and our teacher has praised her for making great progress,” one classmate said, trying to support Quinlyn.
Harriet, however, scoffed and replied, “The starting line is important. She is too slow.”
One of her classmates muttered, “She hasn’t even been chosen yet and is already boasting.”
Harriet caught the remark, straightened her back with confidence, and declared, “Don’t worry. I will definitely be chosen.”
And her words turned out to be true. During the third period, a professor visited and directly called Harriet out, and Harriet didn’t come back for the fourth period.
It wasn’t until lunch was over and classes resumed that Romilly walked in with Harriet, her face beaming with joy.
Romilly said, “We have fantastic news. Harriet has passed the selection exam, and a prestigious university wants her to join them. If everything goes as planned, she’ll start her academic journey there in a month.”
The class erupted in amazement. Despite all the talks that had been swirling around that morning, the actual announcement left everyone shocked.
Skipping middle and high school to enter university was something they could hardly w
their heads around.
Romilly added proudly. “Thanks to Harriet, our class’s honor points are now at an all–time high. Plus, her parents have generously offered to treat the whole class to a meal”
“Hooray!” the students cheered.

Students from various choses flocked to get a glimpse of the star solent, and several boys discreetly slipped love letters to Harriet shing their visits to Clas
Before long, some had affectionately nicknamed Harrier the “Genius Belle”
Ovejoveil Harriet brought home her love letters and accolades to share with her parents, earning yet another round of compliments
“Harriet, you are simply the beat. No one can match you her mother, Tina exclaimed, affectionately stroking her head.
Harriet shyly lowered het gaze neading into her mother’s embrace, and giggled “In thanks to Mom. If it weren’t for that
Before she could finish. Tina quickly covered her mouth and said. “All of these achievements are because of your hard work. We do our best to provide you with the best education, but in the end, it comes down to your own talent.
Just look at Quinlyn, despite being in the same school, she hasn’t achieved much.”
Maurice, sipping hus coffee, nodded in agreement. Your mother is right. When I told your grandfather the good news, he was thrilled and invited you to have a meal with him.”
Harriet suspected Maurer might not know it all, so she quickly changed the subject, playfully saying, “Is it just a meal? Quinlyn has moved into the Anderson Manor now, and Stanley hardly comes home. I wonder what fun surprises await me at Grandpa’s place”
A twinge of jealousy stirred within her. After the party, Quinlyn had moved out. While it should have been a good thing. Quinly had moved into the Anderson Manor, where Stanley frequently visited for meals but hardly ever spent time at
In response. Maurice gently patted Harriet’s head, offering her comfort. “Your grandpa mentioned that he needs some quiet time to recover from the shock. If you successfully adjust to university, I will ask him if you can stay at Anderson Manor.”
At this Harriet felt pleased and confidently promised, “Alright, I will definitely get into university”
After all, she had extraordinary advantages; success felt guaranteed.
Meanwhile, Edward, supposedly in need of rest, had invited a few friends over to his home.
“Edward, stop bragging: You’ve been unable to beat me in chess for decades, and now you’re comparing me with a little girl? Do you even realize I’m a national–level competitor?” Danny, seated to Edward’s left, wore an air of superiority.
“He claims his granddaughter is some amazing talent just because she can throw balls. Edward, when did you become so indulgent with kids:” Curtis, a silver–haired gentleman sitting at Edward’s right, kept a rigid posture, his presence asserting
itself.
Leonard, sitting opposite Edward, hugged his textbook and sighed. “Edward, while we have been friends for a long time, you know I’m super busy with my doctoral program at the university.
“It’s already unreasonable that I’m here to tutor your granddaughter, and now you’ve invited others over too? Do you really think your granddaughter has extraordinary gifts?”
Despite the flood of comments from his friends, Edward remained unbothered, sipping his coffee in a relaxed manner.
His drooping eyelids lifted slightly as he calmly said, “You all judged without even meeting Quinlyn first. Just because your children aren’t exceptional, does that mean there are no prodigies in this world?”

The other three fell silent. It was clear Edward’s sharp tongue had only become sharper over time.
Just then, the sound of an approaching car echoed from outside, and soon, two figures stepped inside.
“Grandpa. I’ve come to join you for dinner again,” Stanley announced as he routinely brought Quinlyn with him to the
Anderson Manor
At first, he had been somewhat intimidated by his grandfather’s stern demeanor, but over time, he adjusted. Realizing Edward had a soft heart underneath his cold front, he began to push his luck and planned to stay the night.
His fondness for the Anderson Manor was largely due to Quinlyn’s presence there.
