Chapter 51
Chapter 51
With a voice hoarse from shouting. Mandy lunged forward and sank her teeth into Maurice’s wrist. Maurice cried out in pain, releasing his grip and flinging her away.
He exerted considerable force, and since Mandy was lightweight, she flew backward and crashed into a chair

Hearing the familiar sound of crying. Quinlyn, who had been staring down, suddenly turned to see Mandy tumbling from
the chair.
She rushed over to pick Mandy up, noting the large bump on Mandy’s forehead and the bruise forming at the comer of Mandy’s eye. Her fingers trembled slightly, leaving her at a loss for words.
Maurice, taken aback to discover it was Manly, hesitated for a moment before rushing over, flustered. “Mandy. I’m so sorry. I was just too anxious. When you suddenly lunged, I couldn’t see clearly. I’ll take you to the hospital”
Seeing the injuries on Mandy’s face made his heart race wildly. After all, she was Claude’s daughter, and Claude protective of his daughter; this incident could easily create enemies for him.
Maurice reached out to pick Mandy up. Quinlyn suddenly lifted her arm, swatting Maurice’s hand away
Maurice inhaled sharply, feeling a pain shoot through his injured wrist. He furrowed his brow in displeasure as he scolded Quinlyn. “What are you doing? If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have accidentally hurt Mandy. Let me take her to the hospital.
Quinlyn stood still, refusing to let him near Mandy, her eyes locked onto his. “I will take care of her.”
“This is about giving Claude an explanation” Maurice felt it was futile to reason with her and attempted to push her aside
once more
But this time. Quinlyn would not passively endure. Before his hand could reach her, she swiftly seized his wrist with all her strength, twisting his body sharply.
Accompanied by a sharp sound of bone breaking, Maurice’s expression changed abruptly as he recoiled in shock, clutching his wrist and stepping back with a howl of agony.
Yet, that was not the end.
In the following moment, Quinlyn lunged forward, delivering a kick to his leg that forced him to kneel. She then picked up an ashtray from the table and struck him violently on the head.
Though the ashtray was small and shattered upon impact, Maurice’s face was left a gruesome mess.
A chorus of screams erupted around them, with Tina and Harriet crying out in terror, while Romilly stared wide–eyed, paralyzed by shock
Only Quinlyn remained composed, standing still and gazing down at Maurice, who lay on the ground moaning in despair. Her voice was calm as she stated, “You should not have hurt her.”
She turned and carried Mandy on her back. Warren, who had indirectly caused this chaos, finally regained his senses and attempted to speak up.
Quinlyn halted, glancing back at him with eyes devoid of warmth. “You cannot beat me.”
Thus, he should not attempt to retaliate, nor should he strive to obstruct her.
Warren felt a chill as her gaze passed over him, a sense of panic driving him to explain, “I didn’t mean to blame you.”

Chapter 51
It was Maurice who had acted violently and accidentally injured Mandy, while Quinlyn had struck with ferocity, her actions were justifiable in defense of her friend.
At that moment, all Warren wanted was to help Quinlyn. But Quinlyn had already turned away, carrying Mandy out of the
restaurant
Parents hurriedly pulled their children aside, fear flashing in their eyes as they regarded Quinlyn. She ignored it all, and once outside, she dialed Claude’s mumber.
When the call connected, she spoke. “Claude, Mandy is hurt, she needs to go to the hospital.”
Upon hearing this, Claude immediately instructed them to wait where they were. After ending the call. Quinlyn noticed Mandy had stopped crying, so she crouched down to ask. “Can you still see?”
The bruise was alarmingly close to Mandy’s eye, and she recalled a child in her village who had gone blind after being struck near the eye; the adults had warned that it had damaged his retina.
Fortunately, Mandy blinked and confirmed. “I can see you”
Quinlyn sighed in relief and then inquired if Mandy felt any other pain. When she only pointed to a scrape on her knee, Quinlyn sank down onto the ground, overwhelmed by a feeling of narrowly escaping disaster.
Fifteen minutes later, Claude arrived at their location. When he saw Mandy’s injured face, his heart ached as if he might shed tears.
Quinlyn bit her lip, standing to the side. As his gaze fell upon her, she deeply bowed and expressed. It was because of me that she got hurt: I’m sorry, Claude.”
“It wasn’t Quinlyn.” Mandy interrupted gently. “I–It was Quinlyn’s dad who tried to hit her. I ran over to protect her.” Mandy stammered through her pain.
Fearing her father’s reprimand, her voice dwindled. “You said I should be a brave little girl.”
Claude felt helpless. “Alright, you need to go to the hospital. We can discuss everything afterward.”
Upon hearing hospital, Quinlyn bowed her head lower still. She even regretted agreeing to be friends with Mandy. Perhaps she should have kept her distance to ensure Mandy’s safety.
At that moment, a pair of polished shoes entered her field of vision, and Claude’s gentle voice reached her ears. “Are you hurt anywhere, Quinlyn? We can check that too.”
Quinlyn looked up and saw Claude with Mandy in his arms, squatting down in front of her.
“I’m fine,” she hesitated before answering-
“That’s good to hear. Claude smiled in relief, but also with a touch of resignation. “Don’t forget, I consider you my daughter

Quinlyn opened her mouth, wanting to argue that she was unworthy of such an honor, but before the words could escape her lips, Claude embraced her with his other arm.
She nestled into the warmth of his broad shoulders, comforted by the gentle yet strong hand that caressed her back.
Claude declared, “Silly girl, you all are my daughters. If any of you get hurt, it pains me just as much. Since we are family, it is only natural for Mandy to protect you. You need not feel guilty, alright?”
Quinlyn had never heard that in her life, and for a moment, an inexplicable emotion surged in her mind, leaving hision
blurred.
