Quinlyn stood in the hallway outside the consultation room, her backpack stung ever her shoulder When these fosepti. she was a little surprised Joseph, I thought you were out of town!
“I just got back anal immediately heard about what happened with Mandy Joseph quickly walked over to Quinlyn and made sure she was okay
Then, he guided her to a bench, his brow furrowed with concern. Stanley promised to take care of you. How did this happen?”
His frustration towards Stanley was evident, and he regretted leaving Quinlyn in Stanley’s care.
“It’s not his fault; I started it today” Quinlyn replied with a hint of sadness. She whispered, “Joseph, I hit Maurice Edward and Stanley are going to be mad, aren’t they?”
Joseph was taken aback that this was what worried her. His gaze fell on the faint red marks on her neck, and anger boilers: inside him.
He said with strong confidence, “Getting involved with the Anderson family has never brought good luck. Starting today. you’re coming home with me. I’ve started making some money now, I’ll take care of you.”
Quinlyn noticed how much Joseph had changed since they last met; even his face was more defined. Maybe he had lost some weight.
She didn’t want to trouble Joseph, so she shook her head firmly. I can handle things on my own, but I would like to visit Grandpa.”
One must take responsibility for one’s actions; she knew she couldn’t just run away from her problems.
Joseph looked at her, wishing she would lean on others more instead of carrying everything by herself. But then he thought again; if she did that, she wouldn’t be Quinlyn anymore.
“Okay, I’ll go with you,” he said with a smile, his eyes warm and reassuring. This also gives me a chance to visit Edward.”
He also wanted to talk to Edward about Maurice’s incompetence and how cruel he was to children. If Edward chose to defend Maurice, Joseph wouldn’t hesitate to employ a few strategies to make things tougher for the Anderson family in business.
Joseph noticed that Mandy had fallen asleep during the examination, and fortunately, her results weren’t alarming. Claude planned to take Quinlyn home, but Joseph stepped in before that could happen.
On their way to the Anderson Manor, Joseph kept busy with paperwork.
Last month, he had proposed the idea of working at Zaid’s company, which made Zaid very happy. Zaid threw Joseph into several important projects, and Joseph ended up feeling overworked and stressed.
After some time, he noticed Quinlyn looking at him with curiosity. He turned to her with a smile and asked, “Are you interested in any of this?”
Quinlyn nodded, her voice very quiet, “You seem tired; I want to help you”
She remembered that Edward’s friends often said how clever she was and thought maybe she could lighten Joseph’s load a
bit.
Joseph felt warmth spread in his chest; he could see how much Quinlyn had grown up since he last saw her. No distant girl from the borderlands, she had a spark of emotion and warmth in her eyes.

Quinlyn looked up studying him intently “Why is that
Because true strength is needed to protect you‘ Joseph kept the thought to himself, not wanting is worry her, he jour anded back
As they arrived at the entrance of the Anderson Manor, Quinlyn hesitated. She crouched down at the threshold drawing circles in the dirt. Joseph found it amusing but chose not to sh her
A moment later, a head popped over the wall. “Hey, kid, are you not going frome inde? Are you and erase I’m on
watch?
The deep voice startled Joseph. He turned around and saw a man grinning, which left him confused about who this pory was
Noticing that Quinlyn was ignoring him, Ivan nimbly hopped over the wall to join her on the ground, observing her tense expression that seemed to reveal even deeper worries.
Childhood worries weren’t his area of expertise. Ivan scratched his head and finally settled for a compromise How about I show some mercy today!
Quinlyn stayed silent, Ivan grew more anxious, finally scrunching his face up in frustration “I won’t hold you back you car go inside. Is that good enough?”
He thought that if that didn’t work, he would just have to make more effort to make her suffer. Physical exhaustion might help melt away her worries.
Quinlyn suddenly went inside. Ivan blinked in surprise. By the time he turned back, Quinlyn had disappeared. He wondered. Was she just playing with me?
Quinlyn didn’t want to walk in with dirty clothes to meet Edward; after all, if it was their last meeting, she wished to leave him with the impression of a respectable child.
Joseph followed closely, observing how the passing servants greeted Quinlyn warmly, their kindness unmistakably genuine
-nothing like the kind of people who would treat her harshly. Yet still, he found himself worried
Rumor had it that Edward was very strict, especially distant from his grandchildren, choosing a solitary life at the Anderson Manor, which could make him reclusive. Given Quinlyn’s recent run–in with Maurice, Edward might be angry with her.
Before he could finish his thoughts, they reached the grand entrance, where the sounds of a struggle echoed from inside.
“Grandpa, please stop.”
“Edward, have mercy; after all, Maurice is your son.”
Quinlyn recognized the panicked voices of Tina and Harriet, pausing for a moment before she finally stepped inside.
In the living room, Edward was brandishing a long whip, striking it across Maurice’s body Maurice, bandaged and in pain, writhed on the ground, his mouth gagged, unable to scream for help.
With each strike, more red stains started spreading across Maurice’s white shirt.
Tears streamed down Tina’s face as she threw herself against Stanley, crying. “Stanley, please, beg your grandfather. Here’s your dad; how can you just stand here and watch him suffer?”
Stanley’s brows knitted tightly, his expression dark since the incident had happened. Upon hearing her words, he clenche his teeth “You promised me Quinlyn wouldn’t get hurt; that’s why I trusted her to you. And look where we are
The sharpness of his reply took Tina by surprise.
