After setting aside his doubts and prejudices, Bennett found Quinlyn quite interesting. He couldn’t resist reaching out to playfully poke at her little tuft of hair. But before he could, his wrist was suddenly grabbed by a hand.
Turning his head, he found himself face–to–face with an elderly man who looked both serious and commanding. “What do you think you’re doing with my child?”
“Your child?” thought Bennett. He was taken aback, glancing between the imposing Antonio in his dark blue suit and Quinlyn, momentarily speechless.
Just then, Quinlyn tilted her head back and cheerfully called out, “Mr. Hill!”
“Ah, sweet girl!” Antonio’s expression instantly softened, his tone now warm and almost doting. He pushed Bennett aside and gently fixed Quinlyn’s hair, scolding playfully, “Didn’t I give you my number last time? Why didn’t you let me know something was going on? You could’ve brought people here without bothering others.”

Curtis, standing to the side, rolled his eyes so hard that they looked like they might get stuck. He’d seen shameless behavior, but this was a whole new level
“You two have barely shared a meal, and suddenly you’re best buds? Does my little apprentice know you well?” Curtis walked over and tried to pull Quinlyn back.
Antonio scoffed, raising an arm to block Curtis’s hand. Before long, the tension escalated, and the two started to exchange and dodge punches.
Quinlyn glanced up and then quietly slipped past them to sort through her backpack.
Bennett finally moved closer, concerned. “Aren’t you going to stop them!”
She didn’t even look up. They’re just playing
Watching the two men exchange what seemed like striking moves with blurry speed, Bennett thought. That’s some dangerous game to play!
Quinlyn didn’t have much in her backpack. After zipping it up and slipping a folding knife into her pocket, she stepped up to the Hill family’s group.
She pulled out a business card and faced the group of serious–looking young men, her voice stea od unflinching “Gentlemen, which one of you is the leader?”

The young men hadn’t expected her to address them with gentlemen, and some of them subtly stifled laughter.

Michael paused, feeling a tug at his heartstrings. Suddenly, he understood why his carefree nephew and serious father treated Quinlyn so differently.
“Okay, then I’ll send five people with you,” he said.
The two old men finally finished their game‘ and heard Quinlyn’s plans. They didn’t interfere and simply reminded everyone to take good care of her on the way.

Even though he knew Quinlyn had skills, at her age, going out to face life–and–death situations, even for kids trained under the Hill family, just didn’t sit right with him.

“Mr. Hill, Quinlyn said, lifting her arm to hold his hand, feeling the sweat and slight tremor in his palm. She realized he wasn’t well and had been putting on a brave face. Looking up with her deep, dark eyes, she said seriously. You should rest I’ll bring Larry back.”
Antonio’s gaze wavered, and a lump formed in his throat as he looked at her.
He’d done some digging into her background–a child orphaned on the border. She had faced countless hardships and even acted as lookout in a rough village, yet she still managed to save Joseph and the kids.
Her heart was pure gold. She knew Larry was vital to him, which is why she made that promise.
“Okay, good girl… he choked out, unable to say anything more, just silently making a decision. If Larry didn’t come back. he’d pass down the Hill family legacy to Quinlyn as a way of thanking her for what she’d done.
Quinlyn didn’t dwell on it; she simply thought the Hill family was good and that since all of them were going in to save people, they would do everything to keep each other safe.
Once everything was ready, just as she was about to head into the mountains, Warren suddenly caught up with her, a pack slung over his shoulder.
“I’m coming with you guys,” he declared, wearing a monitoring wristwatch. “I have a responsibility in this. I want to help save, people and clear my name.
Otherwise, after this incident, he might find himself facing a military tribunal.

Quinlyn didn’t respond to him but looked at Curtis instead. After he gave a slight neet, she continued forward about saying
