Marie drove to the apartment building. As soon as she got out of the car, she saw a man walking towards her.

He was wearing cheap clothes and shoes, and his expensive watch was gone. His hair was all messy, not like before when he slicked it back with gel. Plus, he got days–old stubble on his face.

When Jaime saw Mariela, his eyes lit up at first. Then his expression changed, and he furrowed his brows.
Haylee stood in front of Marie and protected her.
Jaime’s face darkened. “Marie, are you handling my parents‘ divorce case?”
Marie fearlessly stared at him.“Hmm.”
Jaime frowned and said, “You can’t handle this. Pass the case to someone else now.”
Marie sneered, “Why?”
Jaime’s eyes were filled with anger as he gritted his teeth and said, “My family has already gone bankrupt, and now you want my parents to get a divorce. Do you really want to see my family fall apart before you’re happy?”
Marie stared coldly at Jaime.“You got it wrong. I’m not breaking up your parents. Your mom wants a divorce. Your dad doesn’t. I handle this case to keep them from splitting up.”
Jaime was slightly stunned.“What did you say?”
“I have already made it clear.”
“Are you lying to me?” Jaime looked skeptical.“My mom said it was you who instigated their divorce.”
Marie’s lips curled up in a mocking smile, and she looked at Jaime with her arms crossed.
“Really?” Marie sneered. “Jaime, how old are you? You kept mentioning your mom all the time. Are you a mama’s boy?”
Jaime looked annoyed.“I was just sticking to the facts. Why were you insulting me?”
