Chapter 660
Marie muttered, “I told you not to come, but you still managed to find your way
Lennon held Marie’s face in his hands and gently turned her head to face him.
here.”
Mang
“I came because I wanted to see you,” the man said, with his handsome features and captivating deep voice, gentle like a warm spring breeze.
Marie’s clear and bright apricot eyes welled up with mist, as she stared unblinkingly at Lennon.
“What’s wrong?” The man gently scratched Marie’s nose with his hand, a hint of a smile in his eyes. “It’s only been a few days, and don’t you recognize me?”
Marie’s eyes shimmered like water, her voice soft and gentle as if just waking up, “It just felt so unreal, like a dream.”
“It’s not a dream,” a gentle smile played on the man’s lips.“If you don’t believe me, try pinching
me.”
Marie let out a soft “hmm” and said, “I don’t know if pinching you would hurt or not.”
Lennon smiled in his eyes and said, “So what should we do? If I pinch you, I will feel sorry for you.”
Marie chuckled and lightly tapped the man’s chest, with a hint of playfulness, “Alright, stop being so talkative.”
Lennon held Marie’s hand and whispered, “Truthfully.”
Marie’s pair of deer–like eyes were bright and clear, reflecting Lennon’s handsome and unblemished face.
She pursed her lips and asked him, “Have you had breakfast?”
“No, the road conditions were even worse than I had imagined. It wasn’t until 3:30 in the morning that I arrived in downtown Los Angeles. The downtown area was much better, as the water had already receded. However, as I drove towards this side, the road became increasingly difficult to navigate. There was already flooding in the county town, and when I was about five kilometers away from the village, the entire area was submerged in water. I had no choice but to get out of the car and walk the rest of the way.”
Marie furrowed her eyebrows and said, “You walked five kilometers?”
Lennon nodded.
A slight, barely noticeable pang of heartache flickered in Marie’s eyes.
He walked five kilometers, on foot, on a muddy path. He would slip and slide if he wasn’t careful, and could easily fall.
