Marie jokingly replied to her, “Ms. Moore, you can’t have your cake and eat it too, how can you want both?”
Jaida tilted her head and confidently said, “You said it yourself that I was a young lady, what’s wrong with being a little bossy?”

The two of them were joking and chatting happily when Bryce knocked on the door and came in. “Marie, are you free tonight?” Bryce looked at Mariela.
Marie looked up at him and replied, “What’s wrong? Is there something going on?”
Bryce laughed and said, “Annika, it’s been a while since she last saw you. She said she misses you and asked me to ask if you were free to have dinner together tonight.”
Marie hesitated for a moment.
She could feel that Bryce liked her.
Before, Bryce took Annika to her house to help Angel recover from her illness.
Angel is now recovered from her illness. She treated me to a meal and gave me gifts, and she has done everything she needed to do.
I don’t know if it was her imagination, but Bryce seemed to be using Annika as a cover to go on a date with her.
It
may sound a bit self–centered, but looking back on the recent period, Bryce did indeed meet with Annika many times outside of work, using her name as an excuse.
Sometimes it was at her house, sometimes it was outside.
At this rate, they would have surpassed the boundaries of ordinary friends.
For some reason, in that moment, Marie’s mind suddenly recalled the cold figure standing under
the eaves that morning and the warm embrace that made her feel at ease.
Marie lowered her gaze and said, “I had something to do in the evening, please apologize to Annika for me.”
Bryce was slightly taken aback, as he didn’t expect her to refuse.
He looked at Marie quietly for a moment and whispered, “Okay.”
After Bryce left, Jaida looked at Marie with a half–smile and asked, “Did you reject him for Lenny?”
Marie buried herself in work, she did not deny it.
Jaida saw that she was being ignored, and she felt uneasy in her heart, causing the smile on her face to disappear.
