Chapter 16
Thanks to Lennon, her math grades improved by leaps and bounds, soaring from failing to A plus. Mariela excelled in all her other subjects. Without math holding her back, she was successfully admitted to New York University. Back then, Mariela only saw Lennon as a good brother.
She
respected him and liked him, but there was not a hint of romantic feelings between them.
So, when her father said that he wanted to arrange a marriage of convenience with the Stark family and asked her to marry Lennon, she couldn’t accept it.
Mariela only saw Lennon as a brother. How could she marry him?
As Mariela was reminiscing, the bedroom door was pushed open. Jaime stood by the door, lowering his gaze to look at Mariela. “Is everything packed up?”

“Mario said he saw you buy me a watch,” Jaime said.“Didn’t you buy it to apologize to me? I’ve already come back. Aren’t you planning to take it

“Wasn’t it bought for me? Then who did you buy it for?” Jaime’s eyes filled with anger, and his fists involuntarily clenched. “None of your business, Mariela replied nonchalantly.
