Chapter 161
Mariela shook her head, feeling both sour and painful in her heart.
Lennon was like this, still concerned about whether she had been troubled.
She struggled to hold back her tears and forced a smile, “Lenny, you have to get better soon, we still have to have our engagement ceremony.”
Lennon’s pale lips curved into a smile, “Okay, I promise you.”
Royce and Rayne had just stepped out of the intensive care unit when they received a phone call.
The caller sounded urgent, “Oh no, Mr. Stark, something has happened!
Over at the detention center, Dalia claimed that she was pregnant and, according to regulations, needed to go to the hospital for an examination.
On the way to the hospital for a check–up, a car recklessly came crashing towards them, violently colliding with the car Dalia was sitting in, bringing it to a halt by the roadside.
Several well–built men got off the car, each of them skilled in their movements.
Dalia was taken away by them.
Dalia and the staff responsible for monitoring her were in the same car. They suffered severe injuries, and the vehicle was heavily damaged, making it impossible to catch up with them on the spot.
Royce listened and a perplexed expression appeared on his face, ‘It was actually stolen?”
“What’s wrong? Who was kidnapped?” Rayne asked.
Royce took a deep breath and his shoulders slumped.“It was Dalia.”
“What!” Rayne exclaimed in shock, “Wasn’t she already captured?”
Royce frowned and pondered, “Dad is right, this matter is not as simple as the Herman family claims. There is someone behind her, and we need to find out who that person is as soon as possible.”
Lennon stayed in the ICU for a few days and was then transferred to a regular ward.
He seemed to have had a long dream. After waking up from the dream, Lennon felt physically exhausted, even breathing felt tiring.
He slowly opened his eyes.
The smell of disinfectant in the air was pungent.
The sunlight streamed through the window glass and gently spread across his face.
Lennon reached out his hand, wanting to shield the dazzling light.
Suddenly, a wave of pain came from the back of his hand, as his movement of raising his hand pulled at the needle wound on the back of his hand.
“You’re awake,” Mariela appeared at the door and, seeing that he had woken up, the girl quickened her pace and walked to the bedside, setting down the thermos in her hand.“I just went to cook for you, and now that you’re awake, you can have your meal.”
Lennon turned his head and looked at the thermos flask she had just placed on the bedside table, surprise flickering in his eyes.“Cooking?” “Yeah,” Mariela smiled shyly, “I made it myself. Do you want to try it? It’s my first time cooking.”
