Chapter 163
Lennon reached out and gently pinched her face, “I would feel sorry if Marie got hurt, even a small injury is not acceptable.” Mariela lightly pursed her lips, batting her eyelashes, and unconsciously coquettishly said to him, “Lenny.”
Lennon couldn’t resist the sweet and gentle voice.
He pulled her over and kissed her smooth forehead, rosy cheeks, and soft lips.
Mariela’s ears were burning, and her heart felt as sweet as honey.
A moment later, she pushed Lennon’s chest with both hands and distanced herself from him, “Lenny, let’s eat first, it will get cold later.” Lennon dragged his tone and raised an eyebrow at the corner of his eye, “Okay, after we finish eating, shall we kiss?”
Mariela hummed lightly, lowered her eyes without saying a word, and ignored his unseriousness.
Lennon took a bite of stir–fried bok choy.
Mariela looked nervously at him, “How was it? Did it taste okay?”
Lennon smiled warmly, teasing her with a good mood, “Delicious, they say that to capture someone’s heart, you must first capture their stomach. Marie, are you trying to start by capturing my stomach?”
Mariela puffed her cheeks and pretended to glare at him, “If I can’t catch
your
stomach, can I catch your
heart?”
Lennon chuckled and pinched her cheek, “How could that be? All you have to do is stand there, and you win without doing anything.” Mariela “hmmphed” and a joyful sparkle suddenly appeared in her eyes.
Lennon ate all the food that Mariela made, including the soup, without leaving a single drop.
After dinner, he leaned against the head of the bed to rest.
Mariela carefully collected the cutlery and prepared to take it for cleaning.
Lennon said, “These can be done by caregivers or nannies.”
Mariela shook her head and said, “It’s okay, no trouble.”
Lennon’s voice was low, with a hint of barely noticeable pity, “When did you learn to cook?”
His Marie was a delicate and precious scion who never touched the mundane world.
How could she be the one to cook and wash dishes?
Mariela answered, “Just these two days.”
Lennon wanted to ask more questions, but suddenly the door of the ward was pushed open and a bunch of people came in.
Rayne walked in the front, carrying a lunch box in her hand.“Son, Mom brought you food,” she said.
She was followed by Darryl, Fiona, and a nurse.
Rayne glanced at Mariela and smiled, “Marie is here too. Have you had your meal? Would you like to join us? I brought a lot of food today, freshly made by my aunt at home.”
Mariela smiled and refused, “No, auntie, I just ate.”
Lennon’s voice followed closely, “I had just eaten too.”
Rayne was taken aback and noticed the thermos that Mariela was holding in her hand.“Marie, did you give Lenny his meal?”
