Chapter 18
This might have given Jaime the illusion that she couldn’t live without him.

Jaime didn’t know that the reason she was so sensible was because she had long known that he had never considered a future with her. A year ago, Mariela was thinking about bringing Jaime back to New York and telling him about her identity as a rich daughter from the Logan family. However, she accidentally overheard him talking on the phone with his mother, Perla.
“Mom, don’t worry. I know you wouldn’t agree to her marrying into the Herman family. I’m just killing some time with her. I won’t marry a girl you don’t like.
“I’m not someone who falls head over heels in love easily. I can differentiate between dating someone and getting married.” What a clear–headed person.
At that moment. Mariela realized that Jaime had never intended to be with her until the end. To put it simply, Jaime didn’t really like her much.
However, Mariela was not the kind of woman who couldn’t live without love.
She could let go of what didn’t belong to her. Since Jaime only wanted to date, then she would just date him. She needed companionship and emotional value in this unfamiliar city where she had no relatives. She just needed a warm embrace, and that was all. Mariela protected herself well. She hadn’t given Jaime her first kiss or her first night.
Mariela didn’t choose to break up with Jaime immediately.
Because at that time, she still liked him and had gotten used to his
company.
Human emotions were very complex, and it was hard to make a decision sometimes.
But after that, she had never intended to tell Jaime her identity again.
However, when she realized that she was just a substitute, she suddenly lost interest
in this love game.
Mariela could accept that there was no future with Jaime and that he didn’t love her as much, but she couldn’t accept being treated as a substitute for Juliette.
Her name was Mariela, and she was just herself.
Mariela hadn’t expected that Perla, the mother of Jaime, would come to visit.
え
Perla was wearing a deep blue silk gown, adorned with precious sapphire earrings and a necklace. The diamond ring on her finger also matched the color of her dress. It was indeed true, as Jaime had said, that she was a wealthy lady who would buy a whole set of jewelry to match a dress.
“Are you Mariela?” The wealthy lady’s gaze towards Mariela was as if she was looking at something unpleasant, filled with nothing but
criticism.
Mariela politely greeted her, “Hello, Perla.”
Perla walked into the room, her gaze scanning around before finally landing on Mariela.“I’ve heard about you and Jay.” Perla sat down on the sofa, with her legs crossed and slanted, displaying an elegant posture. But her words were far from elegant.
