Chapter 211
After the family banquet, Lennon did not return to the Stark’s villa for several days.
Bella called him several times, and he initially answered, asking why Bella was targeting Mariela.
Bella explained the reason, saying that Mariela was targeting her precious granddaughter, Lauryn.
Mersi
Lennon explained that things were not at all as Lauryn had said, but Bella didn’t listen. She firmly believed that Lennon had been deceived by Mariela and she didn’t believe that her well–behaved granddaughter, Lauryn, would lie.
Unable to communicate, Lennon hung up the phone and didn’t answer any of the calls Bella made in the following days.
During this period, Rayne also called to persuade reconciliation and learned that her adopted daughter was instigating the conflict, which made her somewhat dissatisfied with her adopted daughter.
Lauryn continued to instigate Bella in Mariela’s ear, accusing her of many “crimes“, including sowing discord between Lennon and Bella, causing unrest in the Stark family.
Bella was originally just slightly dissatisfied with Mariela, but after Lauryn’s instigation, she now despises this prospective daughter–in–law,
…
On Monday morning, Mariela was woken up by her alarm clock. She struggled to open her eyes and get up to go to work, but she felt chilled all over, had a splitting headache, and couldn’t stop coughing. When she checked her temperature, it was surprisingly high at thirty–nine degrees. Recently, there has been a high incidence of flu, and unfortunately, she fell victim to it.
Mariela took sick leave and went to the hospital for inpatient treatment.
Mariela had just completed the hospital admission procedures and was about to inform Lennon, but she dismissed the idea when she realized that he had been busy with a challenging project lately, working late every day.
She didn’t want Lennon to worry.
She was already an adult, capable of taking care of herself. It was just a minor flu, there was no need to bother Lennon.
Mariela hired a caregiver and a cook for herself.
She had lost her voice due to the flu, but fortunately, her voice returned to normal after receiving two injections and taking medication. Lennon called and she didn’t give herself away.
“Did Mariela really get sick and go to the hospital?” Lauryn received a call from her little sister Sierra, her tone unable to hide her joy. Sierra said, “It is absolutely true that I went to the hospital yesterday to visit a friend and coincidentally ran into her while she was completing the admission procedures.”
Xu Lauryn asked, “Was she alone? Wasn’t Lenny there?”
“She wasn’t there, she was alone. Today I asked a friend who works at the hospital and found out that for the past two days, it has been nurses taking care of her. It seems like Lennon doesn’t know about her being sick and hospitalized.”
