Lennon couldn’t have not known.
Mariela repeatedly told herself in her heart that no matter what Lauryn said, she was Lennon’s sister. It was reasonable for a brother to visit his sick sister in the hospital, and she couldn’t be too petty or jealous.
However, her heart still felt sour.
The sour and bitter emotions couldn’t be controlled when thinking about Lennon taking time out of his busy schedule to visit Lauryn in the hospital and personally cook soup for her.
Lennon placed both hands on Mariela’s shoulders and said, “Marie, you were sick, I didn’t go anywhere, I stayed here with you.”
He turned to Lauryn and said, “Since the caregiver has already returned, let her accompany you downstairs to sunbathe.”
After speaking, Lennon held Mariela’s hand and walked into the ward, regardless of Lauryn’s expression.
The door of the ward closed, leaving only the two of them inside.
“Marie, when did you get sick?”
“Just these two days.”
“What happened?”
“It was just a small flu, nothing major.”
Lennon sat down on the hospital bed, holding Mariela’s hand, and said, “In the future, you must tell me about these things as soon as possible, okay?”
Mariela lowered her eyes and pursed her lips, “I don’t want to delay your
work.”
Lennon always had endless patience when facing Mariela.“I told you, it won’t be delayed. You will always be my top priority.”
The man paused for a moment, a smile filling his eyes.“Besides, I work so hard and earn money just to spend it on my wife. If I can’t even keep my wife, then what’s the point of earning all that money?”
“Hmph, Mariela pouted, “We’re not even married yet, why are you calling me your wife?”
Lennon’s voice was extremely pleasant, “Anyway, you will be my wife, sooner or later we will get married, what’s wrong with calling you
in advance?”
Thinking about what Lauryn just said, Mariela felt extremely upset.
that
“Is that so? Then why didn’t
you
cook
soup
for
your
wife?”
Lennon realized and patiently explained, “She’s talking nonsense. Grandma called me today and asked me to come to the hospital to see Lauryn. I didn’t want to come originally, but Grandma swallowed her pride and apologized, admitting that she was wrong about what happened at the family banquet. She asked me to give her face and come to see Lauryn.”
“The
soup was cooked by someone that my grandmother had found and delivered to me at the entrance of the hospital. It wasn’t me who personally cooked it.”
Mariela didn’t speak.
“Jealous?” the man’s tone sounded extremely pleased, “Marie is jealous for me.”
In the afternoon, Thomas moved the president’s laptop, as well as the contracts, reports, and some business proposals and project documents, into Mariela’s hospital room. He also brought in a desk and chair.
