Sonia served the food on the table, “Ms. Logan, these are all your favorite dishes. You didn’t eat last night and this morning. You must be very hungry now, right? Please eat more.”
“Thank you,” Marie said, lacking energy and with heavy eyelids, due to a severe lack of sleep and a headache.
“You go ahead. I’ll go clean the kitchen.”
Marie looked at the table full of steaming and delicious food, but she didn’t have much appetite.
She drank the soup and opened her phone to check WhatsApp and text messages, but there was still no message from Lennon. Sonia had said
that Lennon told her to take good care of her and to report any problems to him immediately.
So he should have known her current state by now, right?
Why were there still no messages?
Had he really completely stopped caring about her?
Marie lowered her eyelashes. Her eyes were filled with bitterness.

As soon as Marie entered the door, Angelica rushed over, “Marie, you’re finally home! I miss you so much!”
Marie tugged at the corner of her mouth and reached out to touch Angelica’s head, “I am back to accompany you.”
“Yay!” Angelica laughed happily.

“Marie, I wanna go upstairs with you, Angelica firmly said, holding Marie’s hand.
“Angel, Marie is very tired and needs to rest. I’m downstairs to play with you, okay?” Haleigh held onto Angelica and said gently. Angelica pouted. Her chubby baby face was filled with unhappiness. “No, Marie hasn’t come home for a long time. I want Marie to play with
me.”
Haleigh patiently whispered, “Listen, Angel, Marie has already come home. You can see her anytime now. Let Marie rest well first, so she will have the energy to play with you.”
The little girl looked up at Mariela, with her gaze slightly pausing.“Marie, why do you have dark circles under your eyes?”
Mariela was feeling groggy and weak as she said, ‘I didn’t sleep well.”
Angelica listened to Mariela’s words and stopped bothering her. She sensibly said, “Well, Marie, you go to sleep first. When you wake up, then you can play with me.”
“Angel, you’re sweet.”
Mariela had a splitting headache, her eyes were dry and gritty, and her body was exhausted.
She ascended the stairs with floating steps.
