She tilted her head and secretly wiped away her tears. She adjusted her emotions and forced a smile. ‘Marie, your birthday is coming in a few days. What gift do you want?”
Mariela was still drawing on the window. She answered her mother’s question in a crisp voice, ‘Mom, I wanted a Hello Kitty. has never heard of this breed of cat.” “Hello Kiny Emily asked in a gentle voice, “Is it a pet cat? Mom “No.” Mariela shook her head. “It’s a cartoon figure. I want a ceramic Hello Kitty. Caylee told me that there is a handicraft workshop on Fifth Avenue. We can buy a colorless ceramic model and put on color by ourselves.”
Mariela turned her head to look at Emily and said, “Last week, Caylee and Carsen went to that workshop and made two cute ceramic dolls.” Emily lowered her gaze and smiled lightly.“Okay, if you want to go, I will go with you.”
It snowed heavily on Mariela’s twelfth birthday.
Mariela and Emily walked hand in hand into the handicraft workshop. They had pre–ordered a colorless ceramic Hello Kitty, so they didn’t have to wait after arrival. After the boss brought out the ceramic model, Mariela and Emily started putting color on it. That was the first time they worked together to complete a handmade craft.
Mariela was very pleasant about the final work. The Hello Kitty looked exactly like the one in the cartoon and even more adorable. They came out of the workshop and went to a nearby cake shop.
Emily held a cake in her left hand and held Mariela in her right hand. They walked for a while in the fluttering snow. Emily suddenly stopped and tilted her head to look at Mariela affectionately.
“Marie, I love you so much.” Emily’s voice was gentle and quickly dispersed by the wind.
Mariela’s nose was frozen and turned red.
Emily used to express her love to Mariela all the time, so Mariela didn’t notice anything unusual. She replied with a crisp voice, “Mom, I love you too.”
Emily’s nose tingled. Her tears welled up.
