Juliette put away her phone and lowered her head with a sad expression.
“hay, are you tired of me Her tone was full of grievances.
Jaime sighed, ultimately not wanting to make her unhappy.
“No, I just have a slight headache now. The trip is not urgent. Let’s discuss it when I feel better after resting”
“Okay.” Juliette leaned into Jaime’s embrace, gently wrapping her arms around his waist.
In New York
In a leisure club’s chess and card room, several young men sat together playing cards
Carsen noticed the watch on Lennon’s wrist with keen eyes. He held a cigarette and smiled charmingly, teasing, “You’ve changed your watch, right?”
Lennon played a card and said with
cand and said with a beaming smile, “How is it? Looks good, right? It’s a gift from Marie.”
“Really? It is from Marie. You make me jealous. A man with a fiancée is really enviable, Darryl teased with a smile.
Carsen asked in confusion, “Why do you agree to be related to the Logan family by marriage? Is that your parents‘ wish? I don’t think they
would do so.”
Although Lennon and Mariela were in the same social circle, there was
difference in their social status.
Lennon was the most prestigious man in the circle, and the Stack family was the most influential. As the legitimate heir of the Stark family, his first choice for marriage would definitely not be one from the Logan family.
Lennon smiled gendy, his eyes softening, “We’re not getting married just to make connections between two families.”
Darryl exclaimed in shock, “What? Then, why do you agree to marry her?”
Lennon said. “Three years ago, it was me who took the initiative to go to Deandre. I waited patiently for Marie to graduate. As soon as the time was up. I went to her father.”
“Back then, I told him that he could ask for anything, as long as he let me marry Marie.” Lennon’s eyes gleamed at the thought. After so many years, he was finally going to get what he had longed for
Darryl clicked his tongue and looked incredulous. “You’ve been in love with Marie for a long time, haven’t you? You hid it well. I can’t believe we’ve been friends for so many years and I didn’t notice.”
Carsen laughed and teased, “So, you’ve been secretly in love with her all these years? Why didn’t you say it earlier? Since you behaved with no interest in women, I thought you were gay.”
Darryl became interested and started gossiping. “When did you start liking Marie?
Lennon focused on the cards in his hand without even looking up.
“It’s a secret.”
Darryl said with a loathsome look, “Don’t put on airs. Marie ran away from home back then to avoid an arranged marriage. Maybe she never even thought of marrying you. The gift she gave you was just a polite gesture, so don’t get too excited too soon.
