Chapter 6
Jaime remained silent with a sullen expression.
Just then, someone suggested playing a game to lighten the mood.
Juliette smiled and went to drink and play games with them.
Mariela didn’t like such noisy gatherings, so she walked to a corner and sat on a couch.
Jaime walked over with a cold face and sat down beside her.
She was on her phone, ignoring him.
After a few seconds, he spoke in a deep voice, “If you don’t have money, you could have given her a cheaper gift. It’s better than giving a fake.”
“If you think it’s fake, give it back to me.” Mariela’s eyes remained fixed on the phone, her tone indifferent.
“You’re embarrassing me, you know that?” he said.
Mariela closed her eyes, took a few deep breaths, and suddenly opened her

eyes.
“Why? How? The receipt is right inside the bag. Can’t you check? Or do you want me to take you to the store to confirm with the staff?” Jaime was stunned for a moment and then looked for the receipt.
Only then did he believe it was genuine. His expression softened, and his tone became gentler.“Why didn’t you say there was a receipt earlier?” Mariela snorted coldly, “I didn’t bother to.”
With that, she continued focusing on her phone.
After a while, Jaime beside her finally apologized in a lowered voice.
“Sorry that I got you wrong today.”
Mariela pretended she hadn’t heard him, focusing all her attention on playing games.
Jaime sat by her side without saying a word, but his gaze remained fixed on the group of people playing games. More specifically, he was looking at Juliette.
After Mariela
finished a game, she looked up and happened. to
see Jaime looking at Juliette.
Juliette had lost the game and was being urged to drink.
At first, Jaime could hold back.
But when he saw Juliette down her third drink and reach for a fourth, he abruptly stood up, strode over, and snatched the glass from her hand. “Your stomach is weak, and you still drink SO much? Juliette, are you trying to kill yourself?” Anyone could tell that Jaime was angry.
The private room, which was just bustling a moment ago, instantly fell quiet.
All eyes were focused on them.
Juliette acted out of spite, looked up, and met Jaime’s furious gaze.“What do you care?”
“Don’t drink.”
Jaime coldly scanned the group of people playing games and spoke with a sullen face, “I’ll see who dares to make her drink again.”
They averted their gazes, afraid to make eye contact with him.
Mariela sat on the couch, coldly watching the farce while smiling coldly.
Juliette got up and wanted to grab that glass of wine.
Jaime raised it high, and it was out of her reach.
She tiptoed, lost her balance, and fell into his arms.
