Chapter 7
I had no chofer hunt to send him a mental link, hoping he’d come get me. Even though I loathed him, the rain was torrentiali. and as a werewolf, I had to prioritize my safety.
But all he did was snap back. “I’m busy with pack business. Here’s some cash. get yourself home, and don’t bother me.” His tone was impatient and dismissive. He clearly didnt give a damn about my wellbeing, completely corrupted by power.
I could hear the deafening music and Riley’s laughter through the link. I was done with him. He’d long since forgotten his
sponsibilities as a mate.
By the time I got home an hour later. I was soaked to the home. I shivered in the rain, feeling his coldness and utter indifference.
Instead, he kicked me lightly as I lay on the sofa, proving I was nothing more than an expendable tool. “Riley isn’t feeling well; go make her some soothing potion.”
My thoughts were like a suffocating web, so I started to move, to speed up until I could break free of the confines of the net. I wanted to be free.
When I arrived at the healer’s clinic, I took off my helmet and went inside.
“Seraphina, you ride a motorcycle? That’s awesome!”
“Want to learn? I can teach you sometime.”
Surrounded by laughter and easy banter, I changed into my work clothes, sat down, and open the mental link, starting my workday.
The first connection I made was silent.
I spoke professionally, “Hello, may I ask which werewolf is calling?”
The silence continued for so long that I almost thought they’d cut off. Then a raspy, hesitant and pleading voice came over the link. “Seraphina…”
Upon hearing that familiar voice, I gritted my teeth, fury sparking in my eyes, but our healer’s code wouldn’t allow us to sever any psychic link.
So, I forced down my anger. “Liam, do you understand that you are breaking pack law?”
I heard rustling, then a weak voice, “I’m sorry… I just wanted to talk to you, but you won’t answer my links or calls, it was the only way I could get through to you…” His voice pleaded, unable to accept that I’d left him.
I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding. “Ive made myself perfectly clear, haven’t I? You know I’m afraid of the dark, and you abandoned me in Silver Moon Valley. Thank you for that, it’s completely desensitized me. I won’t ever feel fear because of you again. I’ve become a stronger werewolf now.”
“If there’s nothing else, you can cut the connection.” My tone was filled with disgust. I didn’t want to say another word to him. My wolf was revolted by everything he was.
I signaled to a colleague that I had a harassment call and he helped me sever the connection. I breathed out in relief.
“You” Before I could even ask a question, Liam was rapidly attempting to explain himself, always trying to justify his actions.

Chapter 7
I scowled, the anger deep within me began to burn, and my inner wolf began to growl. “What do you even want? Do you understand that by hogging this link, you’re preventing werewolves who really need help from getting through? Do you know that this self pitying behavior could get our pack members killed?” My words were professional, but my anger was bubbling
We were constantly connected to the Black Rock Pack guard outpost, so I had reported him before his third attempt. I was not going to let him interfere with my life.
I started counting down three…two..
The link was forcibly severed a second later. He’d been apprehended by the Black Rock Pack guard outpost and would be forced to spend three days reflecting at the Arbitrator’s Council. It was punishment for the misuse of mental links. Fantastic!
1 was walking to the underground garage, I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck rise. My wolf sensed a threat.
I subconsciously reached for my phone to text Caspian.
Just as I was about to reach my bike, a figure lunged out of the shadows.
It was Riley. In her hand was a silver dagger. Her face contorted with rage, desperate to use violence to solve the problem.
“You slut, you dumped my brother, but why do you still have to go and seduce him?” she yelled at me. Her hatred and jealousy were palpable, making her want to rip me apart.
“And make him cut ties with me!”
I sighed and thought to myself, This is not my day. I really should’ve just stayed home.
“Firstly, I’m not seducing him. Secondly, your affairs have nothing to do with me. And thirdly, I’ve completed my work, so I need to go home and take a breake. You’re in my way.” I said coldly, not wanting to get drawn into this argument; she was just a puppet of Liam’s.
She slowly moved out of the shadows, holding the silver dagger, her beautiful face twisted into a mask of hatred. I sensed danger, and my fighting instincts kicked in.
Today, I’m going to slash your face, then see how you will seduce him.” She lunged at me with the dagger and, without thinking. I raised my hand to block her.
After a short moment, the pain I was expecting didn’t come. I hesitantly opened my eye.
