After some hesitation, Tony dialed Dylan’s number.
“What’s so important at this hour?” Dylan’s voice came through the phone.
“Dylan, I need an explanation,” Tony said darkly
“I have nothing to say,” Dylan replied.
Tony barely contained his rage. “If that’s your attitude, then know this, Dylan–I’m not afraid of South City. You’re not usually this reckless, but don’t you think you’ve gone too far when you ignored Juan getting beaten and then surrounding Rocco’s men?”
Dylan chuckled. “Honestly, Tony, I don’t think I have.”
Tony’s patience snapped. “Fine, if you want it that way, we’ll go to war! I’ve been in this game. for so long that even the mayor respects me. South City barely made a name for itself, and you think you’re untouchable now?”
Dylan replied steadily, “Tony, you can be angry, and you can even declare war on South City. However, you might want to investigate what your brat actually did first.”
Tony scoffed. “Sure, Juan can be aggressive, but be’s my only son. Isn’t my name enough to keep him safe?”
“Of course, he’s your precious son,” Dylan stated sarcastically. “But as an old rival, here’s a little warning–Juan can’t keep playing with fire without getting burned. He can bully small fries, but some people are beyond his reach.”
Tony burst into laughter. “Dylan, I wasn’t born yesterday. There aren’t many in Jayrodale that East Side can’t handle. Who are you trying to scare? You’re just saying that Juan provoked someone powerful, and I should suck it up, right?”
“That’s about right,” Dylan replied smoothly. “Glad you’re catching on.”
“You’re ridiculous!” Tony spat. “Juan is my son! Anyone who disrespects him disrespects me. Dylan, this is a war between East Side and South City. And as for the punk who laid hands on my son, none of you are getting away with this!”
With that, Tony threw the phone across the room, smashing it.
His subordinate asked cautiously, “Mr. Madden Senior, are we really going to start a war with that lunatic Dylan?”
“Did you not hear that conversation? That bastard completely disrespected me. Sure, South City has numbers, but taking down Dylan wouldn’t be hard for me.”

Tony nodded. “Do it that way. I heard the guy who touched Juan has connections with the Rhodes family. Investigate thoroughly, then crush him.”
“Rest assured, Mr. Madden Senior. Those who touched Mr. Madden will end up in a body bag,” the man replied.
