Chapter 19 I Like It 

Hazel did not move forward. 

The phone vibrated slightly, and she glanced at the incoming call. Her gentle eyes and eyebrows became even more relaxed. 

“Joe, when will you come back?” 

“You said the same thing last time. Both Leila and I miss you.” 

Hazel went back to the house. 

The rear–seat window of the car was opened a crack. 

Gabriel, seated in the back, exuded an air of elegance and nobility. 

The night breeze seeped into the car, producing a soft, faint hiss. 

After Hazel finished taking a shower, she went downstairs to look. The black Maybach disappeared. 

She looked up at the night sky with no stars above her head, her eyes filled with countless thoughts. 

The lawyer advised her to start from the children’s side. 

The power of the Campbell family was evident to all. 

Gabriel had no other offspring besides Jaxon and Joshua. 

And Hazel had Leila. 

From a legal perspective, custody would be more likely to be awarded to the party who didn’t have other children. 

This would reduce her odds of winning.

As a mother, Hazel naturally wanted to watch her children grow up.

Hazel smiled and patted his head, while Joshua stubbornly pursed his lips, his face filled with grievances and disappointment.

He thought, “Humph! She never treated me as her own child. She only cares about Jaxon and 

Leila.” 

Jaxon tempted him with toys, and Joshua reluctantly agreed, but in reality, he was waiting for Hazel to speak up.. 

But Hazel ignored him, and whenever he thought about how she really didn’t want him anymore, Joshua felt like crying.

Jaxon politely declined, Thank you, Gianna, but we don’t like cakes anymore.” Sianna’s face slightly changed, “Is that so? Then I will bring something else for you next time.” Whispers could be heard around. 

A single mother came to pick up her kids, while another woman was with her kids‘ father. 

This scene was not unfamiliar to many women. 

“By the way, which one of them is the wife? And which one is the homewrecker?” 

“I guess the one wearing a purple dress is the wife.” 

“It’s hard to say for sure. Nowadays, many mistresses are pretentious. Let’s wait and see.” 

Gabriel lifted his eyes and swept his gaze across the onlookers. Those who were watching the scene, intimidated by his stare, promptly lowered their heads, too fearful to meet his eyes. Gabriel’s voice was low and deep, “Where are you taking them?” 

Hazel held Jaxon’s hand and spoke calmly. 

“You said that I can come to see the children anytime. Today, I want to take Jaxon home for dinner, and after dinner, I will send him back.” 

Gabriel refused directly, “Not today.” 

Gianna smiled proudly and added, “Ms. Robinson, today Gabriel wants to bring the two children back to the Lewis’s house for dinner. Please return the children to Us 

Hazel suddenly laughed, “Return?” 

She hid her smile and her gaze turned cold. “Even if you were to become a stepmother, it would have to wait until you become his real wife.” 

Gabriel’s face darkened when he heard that. “Hazel, can you please speak nicely?” 

Hazel laughed coldly in her heart. 

When did she not speak nicely? 

But he always found her words harsh. 

Jaxon tightened his grip on Hazel’s hand, leaning closer to her, while Joshua on the side also looked up at her. 

They simultaneously remembered the morning in Nyack. 

Hazel ignored the smugness and provocation in Gianna’s eyes and didn’t even look at Gabriel’s

She looked at Jaxon and asked softly, Jason, do you want to go to the Lewis’s houer with Dad for dinner, or go home with me and have dinner with your sister? 

Jaxon didn’t even think about it and said, “Go home with you.” 

Joshua looked forward to Hazel coming to ask him but was disappointed again, yet he couldn’t help but get close to her. 

Hazel noticed his movement, but still treated him coldly, neither pushing him away nor getting closer, just like a stranger. 

“Did you hear? Jaxon wants to go home with me.” 

Jaxon looked at him and spoke up, “Dad, you said that we should bravely express our true thoughts.” 

He tightly held Hazel’s hand and firmly said, “I want to have a meal with Mom and Leila. 

“But Joshua and I still love you very much. Don’t be jealous.” 

No wonder he had been educated by Gabriel. Jaxon knew precisely how to ingratiate himself with someone who, after baring his feelings, had been rebuffed. 

Gabriel’s gaze focused on Hazel’s eyes, but Hazel only looked at Jaxon, not sparing him a glance. A surge of strange oppression and irritability welled up in his chest. 

Gabriel remained silent for a moment and said, “Fine.”
