Chapter 113
He was tall, broad–shouldered, and stood with a kind of confidence that was almost intimidating. His blue eyes locked onto mine immediately, and I couldn’t help but be drawn to his striking features. His face was angled perfectly, his jaw sharp and defined, and his posture upright. His face looks very young, but he has the deep eyes of a mature man.
As I stepped closer, I was hit by a strange instinct, a kind of gut feeling that something wasn’t right. It was more than his appearance; it was something about him, something I couldn’t place.
didn’t waver
He noticed me too. His gaze and I felt a chill. “Are you…. lost?” His voice was. calm, but there was something in it that sent a warning signal through my brain. The question was so odd that I blurted out, “Were you kidnapped?” The man didn’t answer at first. He simply studied me for a long moment, as if deciding whether or not to speak. Then, finally, he said, “Merhold.” That was it. Just a name. I repeated his name quietly under my breath. “Merhold.”
It was then that I saw blood. Blood on his hands. Blood on his clothes. It was not fresh, but it was unmistakable. My eyes widened as I took in the sight of it.. Tina’s voice rang out in my head, sharp with alarm.
“Danger. Something’s not right. Don’t trust him.”
But I couldn’t just leave him. I couldn’t leave someone behind when I knew what it felt like to be trapped. Even if I was in danger, I couldn’t walk away. Not now.
“Come with me,” I said before I could think better of it. “We can escape together. They can’t catch us if we run.” Merhold looked at me, his gaze flickering down to my hands, then back up to my face. His expression remained unreadable. “They’ll track us by the smell,” he said, his voice low and steady.
I refused to let his words discourage me. “We just need to get out of here fast enough, and we’ll be fine.” I said, trying to sound more confident than I felt. I smiled at him, trying to reassure him, but I wasn’t sure if I was convincing him or myself.
Merhold stared at me for a long moment. There was something in his eyes, something I

couldn’t quite understand, touched, yet full of something else I couldn’t place. Then, finally, he nodded. “Alright. Let’s go.
We moved quickly, sticking to the shadows as best we could.
I exhaled, the tension in my body finally loosening. The further I went, the more I realized how out of place I felt in this world. This wasn’t a place for rogues, not by any means. It was as if I had stumbled into some sort of royal territory, where the rules of the world didn’t apply. I wasn’t sure what kind of pack controlled this place, but the elegance surrounding me made it clear that they weren’t like any pack I had ever known. The buildings were grand, almost like a palace, and the climate was perfect, like something out of a dream.
But I couldn’t allow myself to be fooled. I had to get out of here before it was too late.
I followed Tina’s guidance, listening for any patrols, trying to stay out of sight. But every corner I turned, every step I took, I felt the tension mounting. It was too quiet. I couldn’t ignore the feeling that we were being watched. Then, just as we neared the door, everything
went wrong.
Out of nowhere, a group of people in black appeared, surrounding us from all sides. They were tall, imposing, and they didn’t look like they were in any kind of hurry. They moved in, their cold eyes locked onto me. I barely had time to react before one of them shoved me hard, sending me sprawling to the ground.
I didn’t have time to process it. I knew Merhold was still behind me, and I opened my mouth to tell him to run, to get away while he could.
But then I heard a voice, a man’s voice, calm and distant. “Alpha, what are you doing here? The words stopped me cold. Alpha? The man I had just met, Merhold, was an Alpha? Merhold walked slowly toward the man who had spoken, his voice calm as he responded, “I was walking my prey.” My heart stopped. Prey? I was his prey?
I looked up at Merhold in shock, my mind reeling. But before I could speak, Merhold turned on the man who had pushed me. His face darkened with fury, and in a flash, he had the man by the throat, lifting him off the ground effortlessly. “How dare you hurt my prey without my permission?”
