Chapter 128
Carlos’s POV
The room was dimly lit, with just a flickering bulb in the corner. Shadows moved along the walls, making the space feel tense and heavy.
I sat across from Nathan, half of his face hidden in shadows, which only added to the unease. His fingers tapped on the table in a nervous, steady rhythm.
He looked like he was carrying a weight, something he hadn’t yet told me. His eyes looked distant, but there was a sharp tension in them, something that told me he was bracing himself for bad news.
“I’m getting strange phone calls,” he finally said, his voice tight. “It’s the Alpha of the Dark Ghost Pack. He’s demanding a trade. In fact he wants to trade Cyrus for Sienna.
If we don’t agree, he’s threatening to live–stream Sienna’s vivisection.” He paused, glancing at me to let that horrifying image settle.
“Since Sienna and I had a wedding, this would be more than brutal. It would be a disgrace
to the Johnson Pack. She’s my wife now, and I won’t let them dishonor us like that,” $2
A cold shiver shot through me, chilling me to the core. The thought of Sienna being tortured, used as nothing more than a piece in their game, made me feel sick. But exchanging her life for Cyrus? The very idea made my stomach clench painfully.
The Alpha was ruthless, but he’d gone too far this time. There was no way I’d stand by and let it happen.
“No,” I said firmly, my tone leaving no room for debate. “There’s no way I’m agreeing to that. We can’t let it happen.”
Nathan’s mouth curled into a bitter smile. “I agree,” he replied, though there was a strange, unsettling edge to his voice. “Cyrus is my child. I won’t let anyone use him like that.”

There was something in his eyes that went beyond his usual cold demeanor; something. haunted, conflicted. But before I could say anything, he shot me a look that was sharper than a dagger.
I stood up, pacing the room, my mind racing for solutions. “We’ll find another way.” I said, my voice more to myself than to him. “We can’t just give in to their demands.”
Nathan’s voice turned sharp, almost mocking. “And don’t think I don’t know what you’ve been up to, Carlos. You’ve helped Doris cross lines with no moral boundaries, just like her. You’re not as clean as you pretend to be.”
I stopped dead in my tracks, a cold sweat breaking out across my forehead. He’d struck a nerve, and he knew it. I hadn’t expected him to bring this up now, not with everything else on the line. But he was right–I’d helped Doris.
“I did what I had to do,” I said quietly, forcing my voice to stay steady. “I thought it was the best thing at the time.”
Nathan snorted, shaking his head. “Best? Don’t kid yourself. Don’t pretend you’re some saint, Carlos. I know exactly what you’re capable of, and trust me, you’re not fooling anyone.”
I felt a surge of anger rising within me, my fists clenching involuntarily. But I pushed it down, locking my gaze with his. “We can’t let them take Cyrus. We need him,” I said, trying to keep my voice calm, even as my insides twisted with guilt and frustration.
Nathan met my gaze, his eyes dark and full of something I couldn’t quite place; an emotion teetering between regret and anger. “We both know that, Carlos. But don’t forget, you’re not fooling anyone. Not even yourself.”
Guilt clawed at me, but I couldn’t let it weaken my resolve.
Cyrus
was the
priority. Whatever happened in the past, I’d make it right later“, I thought to myself.
When Nathan finally left, the silence that filled the room felt suffocating. Alone, I slumped against the wall, my mind spinning with the weight of everything he’d said. What was Nathan’s real plan? How far was he willing to go to keep Cyrus safe?
I closed my eyes, feeling the burden of it all pressing down on me. I couldn’t afford to wait any longer or hope for things to work out on their own.

Doris POV
Every day, Merhold made me watch Sienna suffer. I didn’t want to see it. I didn’t want to be there at all. But he insisted. “You need to see this,” he said every time, his voice dark and
determined.
“She deserves this. She deserves to feel the pain she’s caused you for so long.” His eyes. burned with rage as he spoke.
I tried to look away, but Merhold would not allow it.
“I will avenge you,” he whispered, his voice cold with promise.Sienna, tied up and tortured, screamed in agony.
The image of her suffering revolted me, but it wasn’t just the violence that disturbed me. It was Merhold’s coldness toward her, the way he spoke of her as though her pain was the only thing that mattered.
But something about his words didn’t sit right. As I watched him, I started to feel an
uncomfortable ache in me. “She deserves this,” he repeated, his voice as sharp as a blade.
My mind wandered as I watched him. How did he know what she had done to me all thes
years? How did he know about the pain, the betrayal, everything? I could hardly believe it.
“Why do you say that? How do you know?” I finally asked, unable to keep the question. inside any longer.
Merhold’s face softened a little, though his eyes still glinted with the same intensity.
“Because I’ve seen you. I’ve seen the tears you tried to hide. I’ve seen how much she’s hurt. you. And back then, I promised I wouldn’t let you suffer like that again, as long as you gave
me candy.”
