Chapter 170
Carlos’s POV
Odette stormed into my chambers, her face flushed with urgency. “Carlos, you need to act now!” she said, her voice sharp but trembling.
I frowned. “What’s happened?”
“It’s Estelle. She’s plotting against Doris,” she said, her hands clasped tightly. “I warned Doris to be careful, but she wouldn’t listen. She thinks Estelle’s sweet act is harmless, but I
know better.”
My heart sank. Doris was kind, too kind for someone like Estelle. “What do you mean?”
“Estelle’s been like this since she was a child,” Odette continued. “Do you know what she did to Queen Rain Luna?
“She used to twist the Alpha King’s feelings, making him believe Queen Luna only cared for
her daughter and not her. She planted lies to tear them apart.”
The thought chilled me. Estelle’s capacity for manipulation ran deep. “Doris can’t handle someone like that alone,” I said, rising to my feet.
“She is kind and sincere. I know she can’t deal with this dangerous woman on her own“.
said.
“She can’t,” Odette agreed. “But she won’t see it until it’s too late.”
I didn’t wait to hear more. My mind was already on Doris, vulnerable and unprepared for Estelle’s schemes. I darted toward the door.
“Carlos, wait!” Odette called, but her voice was drowned by the pounding of my boots against the stone floor.
I passed through the main hall, ignoring the startled stares of guards and courtiers.

Chapter 170
Queen Luna herself stepped into my path, her expression one of authority and concern.
Carlos, where are you rushing off to?” she demanded. “Forgive me, my queen, but I need to stop something before it’s too late,” I said, bowing briefly before continuing on.
Her voice called after me, but I couldn’t stop. Doris needed me, and nothing else mattered.
Doris’s POV
The tension in the room was stifling. The Alpha King sat silently, his expression unreadable,
while Estelle stood to the side, her delicate features painted with false innocence.
sat still, trying not to fidget under the weight of their gazes. My thoughts raced, wondering what new web of lies Estelle would spin next. The air was thick with unspoken accusations,
suffocating and oppressive.
The faint sound of boots echoed in the corridor before the door creaked open.
Carlos strode in with an air of calm authority, his dark eyes scanning the room before
landing on me.
He crossed over to the warrior stationed next to the Alpha King, his movements deliberate
and controlled.
For a moment, his gaze softened as he looked at me, and I felt a flicker of reassurance. It was as if his presence alone could steady the chaos swirling around me.
“Alpha King,” Carlos began, bowing slightly before stepping closer. His voice carried the weight of someone who had already thought through every word. “If I may, I need to clarify something.”
The Alpha King leaned back slightly, raising an eyebrow. “Go on,” he said, his tone measured but laced with curiosity.
Carlos turned to me briefly, his expression filled with regret and resolve, before he faced the Alpha King again. “I was the one who instructed Doris to befriend Estelle.”
Aripple of shock coursed through the room, heavy and suffocating. Estelle’s eyes widened. I

at frozen, every muscle in my body tense as Carlos began to speak.
Doris doesn’t know everything about the Alpha Palace,” he said, his tone calm but firm. “She isn’t familiar with its politics or the way things work here.
I was the one who told her that Estelle was someone good to approach. I take full responsibility for that decision.” His words were deliberate.
I stared at him, stunned. What was he saying? My thoughts raced, trying to keep up as he
continued.
“I thought introducing her to Estelle would help uncover the truth,” he explained, his voice steady yet laced with regret.
“But if it has caused any upset or distress, I am deeply sorry for that. It was never my intention.” He turned to Estelle, his gaze unwavering. “I’ll ensure Doris keeps her distance from you in the future.”
I blinked, my shock only growing. Carlos’s words were rewriting the entire situation, shielding me in a way I hadn’t expected.
I stared at Carlos, my shock intensifying. He was fabricating a narrative, shielding me from blame with such audacity that it left me speechless.
My heart raced, a mixture of gratitude and confusion swirling within me. Why was he doing this?
The Alpha King’s expression darkened, his eyes narrowing as they bore into Carlos. “You’ve crossed a line, Carlos,” he said, his voice dangerously low, each word a blade cutting through the thick tension in the room. “Do you take me for a fool?”
Carlos stood his ground, but I could see the faint tremor in his hands. “Your Majesty, that was never my intention,” he said, his voice steady, though tinged with contrition.
The Alpha King leaned forward, his tone sharp. “First, you lied to yourself about Cyrus being your child, and now you dare to disrespect me with more lies?”
