Frederick had gone out to meet with a politician and friend who could help with the situation. While the fight unfolded inside, he wasn’t there. Matthew, who had arrived with Catherine, ended up separating the two men. Both looked badly beaten. Leonardo, though he tried, clearly couldn’t control either of them. Meanwhile, Frank stood back, relishing Catherine’s distress over the brawl.
Marcus, reverting to his cold demeanor, declared, “Catherine, I never imagined you’d betray my family like this. Aligning yourself with the Levetts just to uphold your family traditions? That’s sinking to a new low. Now, everyone who doesn’t belong in this house, I’m asking you nicely: Get off my property!
Frederick was walking back in with good news when Marcus’s shout startled him.
“Mr. Bartz, what’s going on? What happened to your face?”
“Nothing, Frederick. Just settling a score,” Marcus sal, glaring at Maximus.
Maximus, equally battered, couldn’t believe how the man he’d thought was broken had managed to fight back so fiercely. If Matthew hadn’t intervened, Maximus would’ve ended up far worse off than his opponent.

Catherine was crushed by Marcus’s words. Deep down, she knew he was right, but the pain of everything that had unfolded was overwhelming. She didn’t even know how Frank Levett had gotten involved in all this. All she knew was that the only two grandsons she felt she had left were now beating each other senseless.
As for Leonardo, Marcus’s words struck a nerve. He knew the history of the Levett family better than anyone. He himself had suffered at the hands of the man now “helping” fulfill the family tradition. For a moment, he considered stepping back and letting Marcus do as Peter had wished. But when Maximus saw him moving closer to Marcus, he intervened. If Marcus had hit him so hard, Leonardo wouldn’t stand a chance, and that was a risk Maximus couldn’t take.
As the group finally began leaving, Maximus stayed behind, hoping to see if Mary would come out of the room. He wanted to convince her to leave with them. Instead, he saw Alexia walking out, a huge smile on her face. That smile filled Maximus with unease. He couldn’t understand why she’d be smiling in a situation like this.
