Serenity and Alden had already invited the whole family to their dinner. The only ones left to invite were Camille, Theodore, Frederick, and Matthew.

“Alden, can I ask you something?” Serenity murmured, running her fingers along his face.
“Of course. What is it?” Alden replied, lazily tracing circles on her bare skin.
“Have you thought about where we’re going to live?” she asked, hesitation in her voice.
“You?” Alden countered with another question.
“Me…?”
“Yeah. You tell me where you want to live. Do you like this House? Do you want to stay in Valentia or move to Hesperia? Maybe you liked the Emirates… or the Maldives? Just tell me where you want to be.”
“Hmm… I haven’t really thought about it,” she admitted. “I love Valentia, though this house is a bit too much–it feels like a castle. I’d rather have something more normal. I’ve heard Tuscany is an interesting place to live…
“We can look for something there,” Alden said easily. “I’d just prefer that if we do move, we wait until the school year ends. You know how close Ethan and John are. That separation is going to be hard on them.”
“I’ve thought about that too. My dad hasn’t said anything yet, but I know Valentia isn’t his first choice. He’d rather go back to Hesperia. But for now, he’s staying put–mostly because of John’s school year and because he and my mom are in therapy.”
“How’s that going?”
“Good. My mom is making a lot of progress. Honestly, sometimes I think Dr. Hill was just taking my dad’s money, This new psychologist is working with them, and without medication, they’re actually improving a lot.”
“I guess that happens when both people commit and genuinely want the best for their family,” Alden said, smiling
“I suppose so… My parents love each other. I just never imagined they’d go through so much. There was a time I was afraid your dad would end up meaning more to my mom than my own father…”
“Love, I think the story my father and your mother had was good… but it wasn’t their story. Your parents have been married for 16 years. They have four amazing kids… well, you’re Maximus’s daughter, but let’s be real- you’re practically Marcus’s daughter too.
“There’s so much that ties them together. They just needed time to clear their heads.
“At first, I was mad at my father for refusing to see you and your mom again. I was upset when I found out he never looked for you both. But there’s one thing I have to admit about him–he always knew your mom wasn’t in love with him anymore. That’s why he stayed away. At least that’s what I saw before he got all his memories back.
Serenity suddenly changed the subject. “Hey… have I told you that I love you?” she asked, completely naturally:
“Not lately.”
“Well, I do. I love you. And I’m so happy with you. You make me feel loved and cherished. I’ll never regret the crazy thing we did.”

“Oh? And how’s that?”
“Come here,” he said, pulling her on top of him.
Luckily, the house was big enough, and the rooms were far apart, making it impossible for anyone to hear what was happening in this one.
“Serenity… You are the woman I’ve wanted the most. I knew it the moment I saw you.”
“Yeah? Well… I was practically your sister,” she teased.
“Something told me you weren’t.”
